RAND is seeking Quantitative Analysts to support RAND’s work across all research areas including labor and population, health, criminal and civil justice, environment, national security, and other policy areas. Working in multi-disciplinary teams, RAND Quantitative Analysts apply quantitative analytic and project management skills to help projects collect data, analyze data, and communicate results to funders and national decision-makers. Specific duties may include data organization and management, data analysis, interpretation and discussion of results with research teams, auditing data quality, preparation of draft documents and presentations, interacting with clients, coordinating research staff, monitoring project budgets and timelines, and other research support as needed.
Qualifications
Successful performance requires strong interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communication skills, strong quantitative analysis skills and grounding in research methodology, and the ability to work in a team environment. Team members are expected to be highly reliable. Prior experience organizing and analyzing data and communicating results to research teams and broader audiences is preferred. Many Quantitative Analysts use Stata, SAS, or R and expertise with at least one of these packages is highly preferred.
Education Requirements
Master’s degree in economics, public policy, policy analysis, or related field required.
Experience
Applicants with all levels of experience will be considered, with a preference for applicants with at least two years of experience following completion of a Master's degree.
Writing Sample Required
A writing sample is required for this position. A solo-authored writing sample demonstrating expertise with quantitative methods and analysis is preferred.

Salary Range
Analyst I: $70,800 - $92,100
Analyst II: $85,800 - $111,600
Analyst III: $97,600 - $134,200
Analyst IV: $111,500 - $161,750
RAND considers a variety of factors when formulating an offer, including but not limited to, the specific role and associated responsibilities; a candidate’s work experience, education/training, skills, expertise; and internal equity. Successful candidates will be offered employment in a specific title, as determined by the candidate's education and experience. The salary range includes base pay plus RAND’s sabbatic pay (which provides additional compensation above base pay when vacation is taken). In addition, RAND provides strong benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, paid time-off and more.
