We are looking for a New Product Introduction Quality Engineer to join our team in Santa Rosa. The Quality Engineer will oversee new product introduction quality, including, but not limited to, design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), contractual quality flow downs, development of inspection processes, and development of internal quality plans. Provides quality support of new product builds, new product gate reviews, supplier design for manufacturing (DFM), risk analysis, manufacturing, the Company’s AS9100 Quality Management System and ensures customer satisfaction and confidence by ensuring service processes and procedures are followed.

Essential Functions:
- Manage contract quality requirement planning and flow downs.
- Assist in the qualification process of new suppliers.
- Interface well at multiple levels within L3Harris Sonoma.
- Provide quality leadership for Sonoma DFMA during the new product development process.
- Participate in Kaizen events.
- Lead or participate in quality improvement teams.
- Responsible for the implementation of a lessons learned process for new products.
- Lead and support company-wide continuous improvement opportunities and initiatives.
- Act as a leader or team member for FOD, 5S, and/or ESD, or other WSO initiatives.
- Support commodity strategies and sourcing initiatives.
- Support outside registrar activities including surveillance and registration audits, as required.
- Work with suppliers to receive DFMA input for new product desgins for commodities such as PWA’s, fabricated metal, and optics.
- Must be able to travel up to 10%.
- Provide qualilty leadership in new product gate reviews and design reviews.
- Develop, revise, and implement internal procedures in support of company’s AS9100 system.
- Act as a lead in the quality transfer of information (TOI’s) from new product introduction to sustaining quality teams.
- Work on development of inspection instructions and development of internal and external quality plans.
- Provide leadership for quality responsibilities during new product frontloading initiatives including identifying and resolving challenges, risks and opportunities (CRO’s).
- Administer or individually perform root cause and/or failure analysis using 8D or similar methodologies for new products.
- Support the development, calculation, and corrective action plans for Operational Excellence metrics.
- Provide quality engineering support for all activities in the new product development process.
- Provide Quality Engineering support to manufacturing and test groups when required by the Quality Assurance.
- Assist program management/project engineering and manage integration of all products according to product lifecycle.
- Monitor status of all new products and ensure effective execution of quality objectives according to required policies, procedures and government regulations.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance
- Investigates trends from TIPQA data under the guidance of Quality Management or Engineering, interfaces with Manufacturing Engineering on areas requiring investigation, updates quality processes for continuous improvement, and generates special reports with input from management and/or engineers.
Qualifications:
- 4 years + of experience working in the Defense industry.
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience or Graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and Excel (experience charting data to provide summary information to management and core team members).
- 4 years+ of related technical experience in new product introduction
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with APQP, AS9145 standards
- Knowledge of military specifications and industry standards preferred.
- Able to take initiative to assist others.
- Able to manage and minimize conflict, quickly understand the issues, and develop effective solutions.
- Knowledge of AS9100 standard and practices.
- Experience with FMEA, FMECA, PFMEA,
- Able to work independently.
- Green or black Six sigma belt is highly preferred
- Knowledge of basic statistical tools and techniques.
- Detail oriented and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 - Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is highly preferred.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $75,000-$140,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
