Job Description

QUALITY ENGINEER

***Candidates must be local to Morristown, TN

Position Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with CP and CPK concepts.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts using whole numbers and decimals.
  • Understanding of the manufacturing environment.
  • Flexibility to work any shift and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to read procedures and process guidelines.
  • Ability to travel when required.
  • Strong computer skills, including QA applications, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Proficiency in recording and interpreting data.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, procedures, and policies.
  • Ambition and drive for personal advancement.
  • A broad knowledge of statistical theory and principles, including statistical process control (SPC).
  • Participation in a teamwork atmosphere and contribution to continuous improvement projects and processes.
  • Proficiency in operating computerized equipment (Excel experience is a plus).
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of ISO/QS-9000 standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Capability to compile and present data in various forms for recording, reporting, and presentations.
  • Attention to detail and ability to
  • In-depth knowledge of quality systems, policies, and procedures, and the ability to apply them to customer requirements.
  • Autonomy and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Problem recognition and defining skills, data collection, and development of conclusions.

  • Diverse knowledge of inspection control methods, techniques, and documentation.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering or equivalent.

Entry-level up to 3 years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably the automotive industry. Recent college graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicating significant issues or developments to management and providing recommended process improvements.
  • Presenting technical and program information to team members and management.
  • Developing, executing, and analyzing quality reporting measures.
  • Developing, applying, and maintaining quality requirements and standards for product development and manufacturing.
  • Performing quality engineering reviews of design documentation to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Promoting and executing quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, and reports.
  • Planning and conducting analysis, inspection, design, testing, and integration activities to ensure product quality.
  • Compiling, writing, and delivering training material on quality standards and activities as needed.
  • Reviewing customers' change requests and ensuring the inclusion of necessary criteria in quality and process plans.
  • Maintaining knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
  • Assisting in process certification.
  • Performing other duties as required.
  • Reporting quality issues, trends, and losses to management.
  • Preparing reports to communicate the results of quality assurance activities.
  • Auditing suppliers and establishing supplier quality requirements.
  • Documenting data obtained during quality assurance activities in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Interfacing with supplier and customer quality representatives to address quality assurance problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Developing innovative approaches to problem-solving identified during quality assurance activities.
  • Participating in internal and external quality audits.
  • Designing and implementing methods for process control, process improvement, testing, and inspection.
  • Directing technical and administrative personnel involved in quality assurance activities.
  • Applying statistical process control (SPC) methods to analyze data and evaluate process performance.
