Job Description
The Quality Control Technician is primarily responsible for the inspection of product received from Supplier and internal manufactured parts, assuring StoneAge products meet Engineering requirements. The Quality Test Technician works closely with StoneAge internal teams to support improvement efforts, quality issues, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions to ensure product quality.

This position pays $24.00 per hour and reports to the Quality Manager.
Requirements
Quality Control
  • Basic understanding of tolerance and Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is a must.
  • Provide timely feedback to StoneAge employees and Suppliers who are meeting or exceeding our quality standards, as well as to those who need to improve.
  • Preserve and enhance the integrity of the Quality Assurance ethic at StoneAge:
  • Understanding and utilization of available measuring and inspection equipment and inspection methods to ensure our product meets Engineering requirements. e.g., calipers, micrometer, depth mics, height gauge, runout gauge, optical comparator, video measurement equipment, and Coordinate Measurement Machine.
  • Responsible for final inspection of manufactured parts and assemblies as well as interim inspections as required while maintaining quality records and traceability through Epicor, StoneAge’s MRP software.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the work area to assure that all measurement instrumentation remains in good working condition.
  • Mechanical aptitude/ mechanical experience
  • Supporting the gauge and equipment calibration program to ensure accurate measurement of required tolerances
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with other employees; communicate and interact effectively with management and team members at all levels through both verbal and written means.
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience
  • Communicate part non-conformances found during inspection with Shop personnel and Suppliers; advise other Departments of the non-conformances as appropriate using the Nonconforming Material Request (NCMR), Manufacturing Review Board (MRB), Discrepant Material Report (DMR), Supplier Variance Request (SVR), Corrective Action Preventive Action (CAPA)processes
  • Work with all applicable parties to complete and maintain the StoneAge Quality Assurance and Quality Control manual / processes.
  • Communicate design issues found during inspection, that have an adverse effect on form, fit, and function as well as cost using the Engineering Change Request (ECR).

  • Maintaining professional working relationships with fellow employees, outside Suppliers, and customers.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be able to regularly lift heavy loads of up to 50#, using proper lifting techniques as outlined in the StoneAge Safety Handbook.
  • Have a strong aptitude and willingness to communicate, collaborate and build consensus.
  • Employ a strong improvement mentality, constantly looking to drive improvement in the effectiveness and efficiency of StoneAge work processes.
  • Must be able to regularly lift heavy loads of up to 50#, using proper lifting techniques as outlined in the StoneAge Safety Handbook.
  • Follow all Safety Protocols outlined in the StoneAge Safety Handbook.
  • Read and interpret engineering prints, work orders, customer orders and gauge parts

  • Documentation and organization skills; proficiency with computer and MS office.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with other employees and to communicate and interact effectively with management and team members at all levels through both verbal and written means.
