Position Description

Massachusetts Ready Mix LLC (MRM) has an excellent opportunity for a Quality Control Manager for its Ready-Mix Concrete operations at our Littleton, Massachusetts facility. This salaried exempt position will report directly to the General Manager.

The primary responsibility of this position includes management of field technicians to provide expert technical support and testing services at our plant and at job sites. Ensure optimized mixes.

The position is also responsible for these key deliverables:

  • Assist with the training of New and Existing Teammates.
  • Ensure alignment & support with peers; communication to business leadership and line resources, development and sharing of best practices, and exchange of industry and product knowledge.
  • Drive implementation and maintenance of a quality program that elevates the proficiency, efficiency, and precision of personnel, instrumentation, and methods for testing concrete-making materials, in-process products, and finished products.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Expected to travel within the state to visit customer locations and provide technical assistance and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Control Programs for Area plants.
  • Maintain adequate staffing and focus to support both internal and external customers.
  • Attend meetings as needed.
  • Schedule and direct work for technicians and laboratories.
  • Initiate and maintain a monitoring program to ensure that quality and performance are in balance.
  • Investigate, problem solve and recommend solutions to customer complaints.
  • Moving materials, such as cylinders, aggregate and cement, as necessary
  • Maintain all appropriate certifications for plants and department personnel.
  • Perform continual product and process training in area and as needed.
  • Perform routine evaluations of new or alternate raw materials in order to maximize profitability.
  • Assist Sales Manager during the pricing of new and existing projects.
  • Proactive monitoring of material rejections or losses to ensure this volume is minimized and ultimately eliminated.
  • Review specifications and create concrete mix designs for approval.
  • Ensure consistency throughout the area in mix design, submittal, and performance monitoring procedures.
  • Maintain contacts with various professional organizations through memberships.
  • Manage portfolio of mixes to optimize as needed, performance.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with industry standards and specifications.
  • Knowledge of Ready-mix manufacturing design, processes, and equipment.
  • Strong reasoning and math abilities.
  • NRMCA and ACI certified for relevant certifications only.
  • Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to handle loading and unloading of cylinders and other physical activities as required from time to time.
  • Familiarity with all commonly used computer software (MS Office, Command etc.)
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and understand necessary customer, local, state, and federal specifications, and standards.


Position Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • Ready Mix QC/QA: 5 years (Preferred)
  • People management and development.
