Job Description
What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Quality Control Lab Manager to lead a team of lab technicians and analytical chemists at our new lithium refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring consistent product quality and supporting process troubleshooting. You will exercise your exceptional people skills to delegate tasks and guide personnel in developing one of Tesla's newest manufacturing teams. Your proven record of driving improvements and agility in responding to quality excursions will enable you to set the tone for the rest of the team. In addition, your strong collaborative skills allow you to bring cross functional teams together to efficiently solve complex problems. Your presence will bring structure to the team and bring the best performance out of each of your employees.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures and standards to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to identify and address quality issues and support process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide coaching and training to technicians.
  • Enforce 5S and workplace hygiene standards.
  • Manage and lead a team of lab technicians and analytical chemists to ensure timely and accurate testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external laboratories and vendors to ensure reliable testing and analysis services.
  • Escalate quality issues with management and engineering as needed.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation, ensuring accurate and reliable operation.
  • Develop and manage the laboratory budget, including personnel, equipment, and supplies.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Review and analyze quality control data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Drive improvements in quality operations.
  • Assist quality technicians and inspectors on in-line decision making.

What You’ll Bring
  • Proficiency in concepts such as six-sigma, TQM, or equivalent a plus.
  • Able to wear PPE including a PAPR respirator and coveralls as needed.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience with a team of 10 or more employees.
  • Proficiency in concepts such as SPC, process capability, PFMEA, Control Plan.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field
  • Versed on Microsoft office Flexible with work schedule.
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in a Manufacturing Quality Control environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2000 or TS16924 a plus
  • Easily demonstrate ability to drive issues to root cause solutions in previous experience.
  • Knowledgeable in quality related specifications.
