Research Reactor
The internationally recognized University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is a 10-megawatt nuclear research facility and the most powerful research reactor located on the Mizzou campus. MURR is a campus research center which operates under the Division of Research, Innovation & Impact.
MURR is the highest-power university research reactor in the United States, operating at 10 megawatts, 6.5 days a week and 52 weeks a year. The MURR facility enables research across many disciplines – From investigating ancient cultures and how plants respond to their environment, to analyzing industrial materials and developing radiopharmaceuticals that have lifesaving clinical applications, the MURR facility is a reliable resource for researchers, scientists, engineers and students across the country.
The University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is seeking a Quality Control Chemist I to work in the Quality Control group. This person will take part in the testing and release of GMP radiochemical products which will be used in pharmaceutical formulations for human patients. This position is part of an approved Career Progression Plan within the Quality Control Department.
Key Duties Performed by This Position Will Include
This Quality Control Chemist I position will report to the Quality Control lead and will focus on testing final products and performing activities required to keep testing ongoing from week to week. Candidates should be committed to excellence and quality and believe in the University Mission of being a world-class research institution.
- Detail oriented individual committed to high quality work and documentation
- Perform analytical method development including the preparation and execution of method validation protocols and associated final reports.
- Perform or assist with other Quality Unit assigned activities related to MURR facility responsibilities associated with FDA, NRC, and DOT regulations.
- Employ sound technical writing skills involving non- critical deviation reports, planned deviation reports, laboratory investigation reports, etc.
- Contribute to the proper maintenance of the laboratory, laboratory equipment, supplies, records, and samples.
- Maintain Quality System documents and records
- Perform testing on multiple radiopharmaceutical lots manufactured on a weekly basis

Salary
$17.43 – $30.68 per hour

M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., some occasional evening and weekend work
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
