Our location in Temecula, CA, currently has an opportunity for a QC Inspector III.
The Opportunity
This position works out of our Temecula, CA location in the Abbott Vascular Division. Our medical devices help more than 10,000 people have healthier hearts, improve quality of life for thousands of people living with chronic pain and movement disorders, and liberate more than 500,000 people with diabetes from routine fingersticks. Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease.
What You’ll Work On
WHAT YOU'LL DO
The inspector provides an independent, unbiased evaluation of materials or the work of others. The results of the Inspector's evaluation is documented and communicated to organizational stakeholders with an interest in the evaluation's outcome - typically, this is supplier development and/ or manufacturing. The Inspector's approval certifies the work or material meets the division's quality system requirements.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs simple statistical analysis through the collection and input of data into software applications or manual calculations.
- Documents the non-conformance or suspected non-conformance to standards (i.e. manufacturing documentation, material/ component specifications, operating procedures, and domestic/ international standards) through the identification of unsuccessful audits, the completion of required paperwork, system transactions, and affixing his or her mark (i.e. stamp, sign-off or signature).
- Issues, stores, count and maintains inventory into the different storage areas.
- Plans and organizes non-routine tasks w/approval.
- Initiates or maintains work schedule.
- Handles, disposes, transfer and document appropriately hazardous waste.
- Audits materials or the work of others through the examination, inspection, measurement, or test of raw materials, components, sub assemblies, final assemblies and documentation.
- Solves a wide range of complex problems requiring advanced interpretation of generally defined procedures and practices.
- Trains new, entry level, and less experienced Quality Auditors through on-the-job training, group training, and one-on-one guidance.
- Establishes priorities of work assignments.
- Handle discrepant materials per the documented disposition and document activities in the appropriate systems or paperwork.
- Selects methods and practices to obtain imaginative, thorough, and practical solutions to questions.
- Communicates the status of audit metrics and other assignments, responsibilities, and duties verbally and through the completion and publishing of periodic reports.
- Understands organizational structure and positions of key employees Maintains general knowledge of products/services associated with area and employees involved with specific product lines and services.
- Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
Minimum Experience / Training Required
Education: High School Diploma / GED or an equivalent combination of education and work experience Associates Degree Preferred
Experience/Background
- Applies solid knowledge of business concepts, procedures and practices, and a complete understanding fundamentals in a functional area, and working knowledge of other related disciplines. Will perform this job in a quality system environment.
- Performs complex assignments usually without established procedures. Assignments require considerable judgment, initiative, creativity and leadership in troubleshooting, suggesting alternatives, and making recommendations for continuous quality improvement
- Minimum 4 years Related work experience
