Job Description


The QA & Grading Administrator will support operational functions within the Gemstone Acquisition Grading Lab. This individual will be responsible for receiving, organizing, and prioritizing incoming gemstones and pearls from various cross-functional teams, maintaining all inventories while gemstones and pearls are within QA and Lab locations, transferring stones to their intended destinations and assisting in various reporting functions.


Key Accountabilities


  • Prioritize inventory according to FIFO and within their designated lead times. Locate inventory for aging inventory inquiries. Inform management of any stalled inventory.
  • Transact & Distribute Inventories: Perform systematic transactions (using both JDE and Excel) to receive and distribute gemstones throughout the Gemstone Grading Lab and to cross-functional teams. Transact and manually verify/sign for all gemstones, in accordance with Chain of Custody, to ensure accountability of incoming and outgoing merchandise. Distribute work to Grading Team staff according to priorities established by Management.
  • Reporting: Generate reports for interdepartmental reporting (using both JDE and Excel). Maintain weekly and monthly reports of grading volumes, workload priorities and cycle times. Provide frequent updates to Grading Team and Management.
  • Feedback: Work with gemologists and Management to generate quality feedback reports for various gemstone suppliers and cross-functional teams. Identify opportunities to provide quality feedback based on grading results and trend analysis.
  • Maintain a good working atmosphere by adhering to the company’s policies and procedures and maintain professional conduct at all times. Work safely at all times by ensuring that safe work procedures within the Gemstone Acquisition Grading Lab are consistently followed, as well as all safety procedures required at your worksite. Promptly report all incidents and safety issues to your supervisor.
  • Ensure packets are progressed out of QA and Grading locations in a timely manner by querying the locations in JDE.
  • Inventory Oversight: Manage the organization of QA and Grading backlogs/inventories and gemological sample inventory. Provide timely reports regarding inventory status to management.


Required Qualifications


  • Ability to work in detail with accuracy
  • Must comply with all company policies & procedures including but not limited to: Safety, Confidentiality, and Security
  • Proficiency in MS Office – Excel/Word/Outlook
  • Ability to think strategically and independently
  • Must be flexible and willing to change responsibilities within the department
  • High School Degree
  • Willing to work overtime as needed
  • Proficiency in mathematical computations


Preferred Qualifications


  • Basic knowledge of gemstones and pearls
  • Bachelor or Associate Degree


The hiring range for this position ranges from $22.02 - $29.78 per hour. The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidates’ relevant skills and experience.
