Job Description
iMentor is seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to ensure the integrity, sustainability and scalability of the iMentor web platform, mobile app and related systems that support one of the largest mentoring programs in any single city as well as our non-profit partners across the country, ultimately helping more students graduate from high school college-ready and succeed in college. For this role we highly prefer candidates located in the NYC metro area who are also flexibly available to work with remote teams in different time zones. Success n this position will be demonstrated by providing quality work output, screening for errors, and refining usability throughout the software development and implementation process.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in technical troubleshooting, customer-service orientation, with bonus points for experience developing and executing manual scripts such as APEX. They will be exposed to application design and cross functional team projects. An ability to think creatively about workflows and scenarios to identify defects is key. The position reports to the Director of Engineering and is a member of the Technology Solutions team located in the Chief Operating Officer (COO) vertical.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and reconstruct user issues and document for future users
  • Create test scripts based on end user documentation
  • Use automation to find code issues in various codebases
  • Create workflows that adhere to business requirements and audit routinely
  • Create test scripts that ensure coverage of functional requirements
  • Track defects in development and issue ticketing systems
  • Develop, document, and execute test plans, use cases, scripts, and procedures
  • Identify edge cases from typical user experiences and document them
  • Report, document, track and escalate defects


Qualifications

  • Understanding of test types: functional, regression, UX, smoke test, cross-browser
  • Experience in defect reporting & communications of status/metrics
  • Experience writing test scripts for existing and new features
  • 1 year experience in software test planning and execution
  • 1 year experience testing web applications, mobile apps
  • Experience using work tracking systems: bug, user request (e.g. JIRA, Zendesk)

Having this experience is a plus

  • Understanding the software development life cycle and agile methodologies
  • Usage of Selenium or other automated testing tools
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, SQL, and JavaScript
  • Working with Browserstack or other device testing tools
  • Working with Salesforce integrations

Compensation and Benefits

  • $62,000 - $65,000 salary range commensurate with experience
  • 401K match up to 4%
  • 18 days paid annual vacation (increasing annually to 21, 23, 25), 13 paid holidays + your birthday + one floating holiday, iMentor closed between Christmas and New Year’s Day, plus 6-7 sick days annually
  • Commutable distance to NYC preferred, hybrid work location consistent with iMentor’s work location policy. Must be willing to adjust schedule to work across multiple time zones, including with offshore developers based in Eastern Europe.
