Position Summary:
The Enterprise Development team at the University of Idaho is seeking a student enrolled in a technology related degree program at U of I to join us for a temporary help/internship opportunity to help improve our software quality assurance program. This involves testing different software applications, analyzing, writing test cases, and automating test cases for U of I enterprise-wide applications such as the new student dashboard, MyUI. We work in a Scrum framework, which accompanies the development process as early as collecting requirements for new applications, enhancement requests or root cause analysis for resolving software bugs. In this position, you will gain real-life experience with modern tools, programming languages, and software development processes that will directly transfer to a career in software development and supporting fields.
This position entails having knowledge about software life cycle models, requirements definition, requirements analysis, software specification, software architectural design, engineering discipline in software development, software measurement, user interface design, and legal and ethical issues in software product development.
Duties may include:

• Negotiate, develop, and execute test plans
• Perform data modeling, performance, and testing
• Apply security practices used by the development team
• Develop, evaluate, and implement test automation software
• Analyze the design and use of data sources
• Analyze existing software for new complex systems and algorithms
• Other duties as assigned
• Monitor and employ control techniques and configuration management
• Perform tests and debugging

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled, degree-seeking student at the University of Idaho

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with:
  • QA certification e.g., ISTQP
  • Higher education technology
  • SQL programming and relational databases
  • Developing user-facing web applications
  • Programming with JavaScript or .NET
  • Object oriented languages such as Java or Groovy
  • REST or SOAP protocols as well as other related web services
  • Computer security issues and the ability to apply this knowledge in the design and development of systems
  • Troubleshooting software development issues and efficiently resolving the issues in a timely fashion
  • Development workflow and version control tools
  • SDLC and/or Agile methodologies
• REST or SOAP protocols as well as other related web services
• SQL programming and relational databases
