Job Description

Ground floor opportunity. Senior Petroleum Inspector., New York Harbor

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILIES:

Oil and petroleum inspectors perform duties at petroleum and refinery sites, anchorages and jetties; accessing vessels, tankers, barges, general cargo vessels, shore tanks, railcars, tank trucks and pipeline grids, conducting volumetric quantity surveys of various commodities, including but not limited to, crude oils, petroleum and petroleum by-products, chemicals and liquified gases; collecting physical samples of said commodities for testing at the company’s laboratories.


CORE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILIES AND DUTIES

·Obtains information, receives instructions, and secures relevant paperwork from Operation Supervisor / Dispatcher for commodity movements

·Reviews job orders with Operations Supervisor / Dispatcher for any discrepancies, anomalies, or inconsistencies

·Ensures all company and personal equipment is in good working order, maintained, clean and calibration(s) verified

·Ensures punctual and timely arrival at job site in a manner consistent with Geo-Chem Americas’ SOP, Federal, State, and local regulations, terminal, refinery, and vessel requirements including but not limited to all safety and HSE standards

·Represents Geo-Chem Americas by appropriate appearance, behavior, conduct and ethics

·Time of essence reporting any problems, issues, discrepancies, or other noteworthy incidents to the Operations Supervisor / Dispatcher without delay

·Ensure compliance with all instructions provided in job order as provided by client’s nominating instructions, Operators Supervisor / Dispatcher

·Obtain quantitative measurements and samples as provided by client’s nominating instructions, Operations Supervisor / Dispatcher

·Label samples with full and correct information, e.g., citing location(s), commodity, sample type, and providing a true and accurate Geo-Chem Americas Chain of Custody report

·Promptly and accurately calculates volumetric quantities and completes all relevant paperwork for distribution to relevant parties

·Safely, and in a timely manner, delivers samples to a Geo-Chem Americas laboratory for analysis, retain, or as client requires

·Maintain a 24 hour on-call status.

·Attends Company meetings as deemed necessary.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

·Employee must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily

EDUCATON AND EXPERIENCE

·High school graduate or GED); Computer literacy preferred

·In depth knowledge of Company’s HSE protocols and associated government regulations


LANGUAGE ABILITIES

·Ability to read, write and speak English fluently

·Ability to interpret, understand documents., safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals

MATHMATICAL ABILITIES

·Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide all units of measurements, both decimalized and metric systems, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals

REASONING SKILLS

·Common sense understanding to undertake instructions provided in written, verbal, or diagrammatic form

·Problem solving abilities.

CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS AND LICENSES

·Valid and current driving license

·Valid and current vehicle insurance

·TWIC credentialed preferred.

·IFIA certificated

·Knowledge of API, ASTM guidelines preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

·While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, sit, kneel, crawl, walk, use hand dexterity for tools and equipment, climb and descend stairwells, gangways, vessel’s Jacob’s ladders, speak, hear, and have a sense of smell

·Employee may be required to lift, climb, and move with up to fifty pounds, and may on occasion, with assistance, lift or move up to one hundred pounds

·Vision ability to include close vision (or corrected), distance vision (or corrected), color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus quickly

·Ability to familiarize and understand PPE.

·Ability to pass fitness test for breathing apparatus (SCBA)
