Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
  • OR Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to Social Work, Public Administration, or Planning, plus four (4) years of social service planning or administrative experience.
  • Graduation with a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to Social Work, Public Health, Public Administration, or Planning, plus two (2) years of experience in health or social service planning, or administrative experience.

Position Overview
  • Develops and updates emergency preparedness emergency preparedness plans, procedures, protocols, and policies.
  • Serves as deputy planning section chief during emergency response activations and prepares and disseminates situation reports, Incident Action Plans, and other emergency response situational awareness.
  • Serves as the Strategic National Stockpile coordinator including the development of Point of Dispensing ( POD ) plans and partnership engagement.
  • Assists in case investigation and data collection associated with disease outbreaks, foodborne or waterborne illnesses, disease clusters, and other unusual illnesses/conditions within Austin and Travis County.
  • Performs public health emergency preparedness response and planning activities specifically assisting with vulnerable populations and the completion of grant and other deliverables.
  • Participates in all bioterrorism-related activities and meetings and assists in the preparation of training, exercises, and drills related to public health emergency preparedness.

Travel
  • If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

Duties, Functions And Responsibilities
