Landis+Gyr is seeking an experienced Software & Services Project Manager (SPM) who will be responsible for overall daily planning and execution of Landis+Gyr software and service contracts. The SPM is responsible for leading our most complex software and solution deployment projects. The SPM has significant experience in overall utility software solutioning, including software product(s) implementation and integration, developing the overall solution scope, pricing and design, developing the overall detailed project plan which includes proactive risk identification and mitigation. Has thorough understanding of the planning, scheduling and execution of complex utility related technical software solutions such as Meter Data Management systems (MDMS), Grid Analytics systems, or Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) projects. Has demonstrable experience executing multiple complex projects within a stage gate/PMI centric methodology to ensure that all deliverables are completed and approved by project stakeholders. The SPM works with cross functional teams across the Americas and, at times, globally to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and scope. The SPM is responsible for establishing and/or enhancing customer relationships across relevant organizations with multiple customers. The SPM will provide support to new business development including, RFP responses, increasing services revenue with existing customers, and scope of work development. The SPM will oversee multiple projects each with a dedicated project manager resource.


The role is accountable for customer satisfaction which is driven by strong execution of contract(s) to deploy technical smart grid solutions for customers. This includes project planning, analysis and reporting of the financial performance of the Project, weekly status reporting, and hands-on management of the efforts of the Project team to meet the contractual requirements. The Project Manager will manage multiple projects within the scope of a customer account. Significant time will be spent working closely with the customer to develop project plans, schedules, Project management plans, and other plans in support of the contract. The role requires significant leadership and will be seen as a leader and proven mentor as well as someone who is a trusted, collaborative partner with our customers while managing customer expectations. The position also requires someone who possesses seasoned skills in project and Project management and business acumen to lead complex software projects.


Primary Statement of Duties

  • Plans, executes, controls, and coordinates the activities of a project core team to produce deliverables agreed upon with executive and/or functional management.
  • Manages multiple projects and executes activities around the boundaries of scope, schedule, and cost. Utilizes the Project Management Office's (PMO's) deployment methodology procedures and processes to implement software projects and/or services for the Company.
  • Reports project status to the PMO and L+G customer stakeholders. Manages external, internal, and project costs.
  • Work within a stage gate methodology for the project including applying techniques for planning, tracking, change control, risk management, communication management and escalations.
  • Manages / coordinates remote teams in different time zones.
  • Provides support for new business development in partnership with the Sales organization, including costing, SOW development, and requirements gathering as needed.
  • Maintains regular contact with employees, external customers, and/or industry contacts.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years’ experience in project / Project management
  • Experience in the utility or utility support industries
  • Experience in software/system deployment projects
  • PMP Certified preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with customer relationships at all levels of an organization
  • Excellent understanding of project management scheduling SW tools (Microsoft Project, Visio, Daptiv PPM or similar PPM solution).
  • A deep understanding of PMI related project management methodologies.
  • Comfortable learning new technology/software, usage, configuration management & change control methodologies.
  • Understands the utility industry specifically meter to cash (meter reads, processing, and billing), distribution, outage management, meter technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, presenting & listening).
  • Understands how to measure audience and craft communications to meet their needs.
  • Uses listening skills to completely understand tough situations and help resolve them.
  • Excellent leadership qualities and the ability to make decisions without perfect information.
  • Ability to positively influence others without direct authority in efforts to move assigned projects forward.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts between members of project team or as needed throughout the organization.
  • Excellent organizational abilities needed as multiple projects will be assigned.
  • Excellent change management skills.
  • Ability to accept change and respond to setbacks with minimal disruptions.
  • Strong negotiating skills for working with stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support project activities. (This role requires up to 50% travel.)

Pay is in the range of $81,400 - $126,800 per year. The position is eligible for a 401(k) match and consideration for an annual bonus. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.
