Job Description
Our Mission
The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy seeks to improve quality of life through the effective use, taxation, and stewardship of land. A nonprofit private operating foundation whose origins date to 1946, the Lincoln Institute researches and recommends creative approaches to land as a solution to economic, social, and environmental challenges. Through education, training, publications, and events, we integrate theory and practice to inform public policy decisions worldwide. With locations in Cambridge, Massachusetts; Washington, DC; Phoenix; and Beijing, we organize our work around six goals: low-carbon, climate-resilient communities and regions; efficient and equitable tax systems; reduced poverty and spatial inequality; fiscally healthy communities and regions; sustainably managed land and water resources; and functional land markets and reduced informality.

Position Overview
Publications, Communications, and Learning Design department (PCLD) department advances the Lincoln Institute’s mission through two streams of activity: the creation of content products, produced by the Publications and Learning Design teams; and communications and marketing activities to support product dissemination, audience development, digital marketing, and stewardship of the Lincoln Institute brand, led by the Communications and User Experience teams.

PCLD is experiencing an exciting period of growth with the introduction of new products, audience engagement strategies, and brand development. The Project Manager is a newly created position that will consolidate responsibility for managing the department’s priorities and plans, including process improvement, scope management, and capacity planning.

This is a full-time position in Cambridge, MA at 37.5 hours/week reporting to the Chief Content Officer. Travel up to 5%.

What You’ll Do

  • Document PCLD’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) and track continuous process improvements. Ensure that all internal and external stakeholders are aware of the SOPs and are informed of any updates.
  • Partner with PCLD colleagues to work with other Lincoln Institute departments in need of support from PCLD. Assist with the communication flow between divisions and manage relationships between internal clients and PCLD.
  • Assist the Chief Content Officer with preparing budgets.
  • Recognize opportunities for communication and problem solving across work groups, and elevate these to the PCLD leadership as needed.
  • Maintain documentation for brand standards, publishing, and web guidelines and serve as the primary liaison to ensure that brand standards are met.
  • Track progress toward and report on agreed upon project and departmental goals and metrics.
  • Monitor departmental tasks in the Asana project management system and support work groups to ensure each project remains on track.
  • Coordinate with the PCLD team and Program staff to develop detailed plans to monitor and track the progress of PCLD projects. Establish and manage project expectations and goals, constructing a comprehensive project plan, defining the project's scope, and assigning duties to members are part of project manager roles and responsibilities.
  • Expand and manage a pool of consultants, freelancers, and translators who are well-versed in the Institute’s portfolio and can support project work.
  • Lead weekly departmental meetings, includes creating agendas, managing meeting invites and attendance, facilitating meetings, and capturing next steps.

What You’ll Need

  • Superior organizational skills and willingness to be the organization’s internal champion for process improvements.
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, be a strong self-starter, and generate ideas to solve problems. This position requires flexibility and the ability to thrive in an evolving environment.
  • Ability to monitor and control project budgets and timelines.
  • 3+ years of experience in project management in a marketing or creative organization (publishing, advertising, design, media, public relations, or a similar environment).
  • Experience working with a distributed workforce is a plus.
  • Willingness to take proactive ownership of projects and meet deadlines; ability to communicate roadblocks and propose solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related discipline.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to interface with senior management, internal stakeholders, and external partners around the world.
  • Ability to manage assignments distributed across a group of freelance contractors and vendors.
  • Flexibility in work hours to accommodate colleagues in different time zones.
  • Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and produce high quality work efficiently and with minimal oversight.
  • A solid understanding of the business cases, tasks, processes, and workflows in a marketing or creative department.
  • Familiarity with Asana and Salesforce is a plus, but not required.
  • High integrity and alignment with the Institute’s mission and values, including a commitment to diversity and equity.
