Job Description
Description

At SEI, we are problem solvers and change agents. We all contribute to building sustainability and climate change resilience and making a positive impact in the world. SEI is a teams-based, non-profit organization dedicated to building leaders to drive sustainability solutions. For 25 years, SEI has partnered with schools, communities, and businesses to develop a sustainability leadership pathway from elementary school to early career. Our flagship programs educate and empower students and emerging professionals to create thriving, resilient communities. SEI is located in Marin County, CA, and operates on a hybrid work schedule for those located in the Bay Area; however, this position is open to candidates anywhere in California for remote work. Come join our team!

This is a hybrid position. Work is conducted in our San Rafael office two days a week and remotely three days a week.

The Project Coordinator’s work entails project development and implementation, as well as the training and supervision of program members, including participants, members, fellows, and/or interns.

The Project Coordinator will support work in one or more of the following departments:

  • Energize Careers strives to create a diverse and representational sustainability workforce through industry-advised training of people who experience systemic barriers to high-road employment.
  • Climate Corps advances sustainability solutions with organizations as we foster emerging leaders. The transformational change we are driving towards is a trained and capable workforce able to meet the pressing climate challenge.

Essential Functions

  • Lead project team meetings, including scheduling, writing the agenda, facilitating, and assigning action items and deadlines.
  • Support training of new SEI staff on project workflows, tools, and/or changes.
  • Provide regular feedback and ideas to program leaders on how to improve program workflows and procedures (e.g., through streamlined systems, process documents, guides, etc.), get feedback on ideas from program staff and leadership, and lead the execution of approved ideas.
  • Review and approve billable project hours submitted by SEI core staff.
  • Mentor program participants by conducting regular check-ins, managing deliverables, and approving expenses and timecards.
  • Maintain regular communication with partner sites to monitor and support program participant performance.
  • Follow up with team members to ensure they are supported with assigned tasks and understand their responsibilities.
  • Attend regular team meetings and provide updates and feedback on the program process, using best judgment to escalate critical issues to the People Resources Department as needed.
  • Support the professional development of participants and coordinate with relevant program staff to support questions around training events and deliverables.
  • Create and update guides and manuals on workflow processes.
  • Lead execution of projects, and serve as the primary point person. Lead strategic planning for projects and program areas including setting project goals, establishing a project timeline, spearheading reflection sessions, and ensuring institutional knowledge is passed down.
  • Ensure DEI principles are integrated into project work plans, data collection, analysis and evaluations, reporting, and external project and program communications.
  • Contribute to program future direction discussions with original ideas informed by knowledge of the current industry, SEI’s mission, program vision, and program processes.
