Job Description

Job Title: Programs & Events Producer

Full-Time | Supported by and reports to: Executive Director| Location: Puget Sound


Position Summary:

The Programs & Events Producer is responsible for the relaunch, sustainment, and/or reinvention of TPS programs and events including but not limited to the Unified General Auditions (UGAs) and the Gregory Awards. You will work closely with the Executive Director to create, implement, and manage programs that help to inform, support, and celebrate performing arts organizations and artists around Puget Sound. This position requires project management as well as production management skills. Additionally, a history of excellent community engagement is an absolute must with volunteer management experience strongly preferred. This position involves flexible scheduling and remote work, with in-person availability in Puget Sound locations required (our main office is currently in Seattle; our members and partner organizations reside throughout the Pacific Northwest).


Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

● 2023 Gregory Awards + Gala

o Serve as the Lead Collaborator for the return of the annual Gregory Awards as the Gregory Awards + Gala on October 23, 2023

o Effectively manage staff, volunteers, contractors, and contracted organizations in the successful planning and execution of this 1-night-only event

o Seek and secure individual and corporate sponsorships

o Produce an evening extravaganza to honor & celebrate artistic excellence, survival, and fortitude of performing arts organizations through the COVID-19 pandemic

o Analyze event outcomes and make recommendations on the future of an annual gala ● Gregory Awards

o Serve as the Lead Collaborator to envision the relaunch of a full-scale Gregory Awards o Redesign the nominator and auditing process to better meet equity & social justice goals, and account for performing arts excellence around Puget Sound

o Manage the auditing, nomination, and selection processes

o Produce a lively and entertaining awards ceremony that brings our region’s performing arts community together in collective celebration

o Effectively manage staff, volunteers, contractors, and contracted organizations in the successful planning and execution of this annual event

● Unified General Auditions

o Serve as the Lead Collaborator for the continuation and expansion of the auditions o Coordinate with auditionees and auditors throughout the planning, preparations, and production, and post-production processes

o Innovate new ways to include a greater number of artists and artistic disciplines o Explore UGA-hosting opportunities in the greater Puget Sound

o Effectively manage staff, volunteers, contractors, and contracted organizations in the successful planning and execution of these events

● Other Essential Responsibilities

o Develop and manage production and event budgets with the goal to produce net neutral or positive events

o Develop and manage regular recurring training/informational/educational workshops, events, or programs to benefit TPS Members and Member Organizations

o Work with the Executive Director on planning for new programs & event initiatives, and on the future of old initiatives such as the Fringe Festival and the Theatre Conference o Shared leadership support of a 50% direct report Membership & Programs Coordinator o Attend weekly staff meetings and monthly program committee meetings to collaborate on organizational needs, goals, and tasks.

o Support the Executive Director on various tasks or projects as needed to best support TPS and our members


Qualifications

Demonstrated commitment to issues of inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility. ● Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment.

● Highly organized and self-motivated. Strong organization, attention to detail, and oral and written communication skills.

● 3+ years proven history of successful community engagement.

● Certification or degree in Theatre Production Management, Project Management, Stage Management, or 5+ years equivalent experience.

● 2+ years volunteer management experience.

● Experience in developing and running new initiatives.

● Ability to proactively work effectively with Executive Director, Web & Tech Support and Digital Design Expert, and Membership & Programs Coordinator to grow and support our Membership. ● Ability to prioritize, manage time, and drive projects through to completion and meet deadlines. ● Fast learner with strong conflict resolution and troubleshooting skills.

● Expert communicator and teambuilder.

● Experience running or participating in the management of gala events.


Desired Experience and Skills:

● Production Management Experience.

● Experience running large-scale in-person events with 1,000+ attendees.

● Experience running hybrid simultaneous virtual + in-person events.

● Experience managing volunteers in a virtual environment.

● Demonstrated experience increasing program or initiative equity.

● Proficiency with Google Workspace.

● Nonprofit experience.

● Performing arts expertise inclusive of all stages of the arts.

● Familiarity with greater Puget Sound area.


Compensation and Benefits:

$75,000 annual, full-time, exempt.

+$400/mo stipend to offset healthcare expenses.

+$50/mo reimbursement for cell, internet, tech.
