Culmen International is hiring Travel Youth Care Workers I to provide support for the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement.

Background
The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), Division of Unaccompanied Children's Operations (DUCO) program provides unaccompanied children (UC) with a safe and appropriate environment until they are transported to appropriate sponsors while their immigration cases proceed. ORR is an office within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), which is a division of the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS). The ORR has identified a critical need for transportation services at a national level to transport UC in ORR facilities located throughout the United States.
Description:
The Travel Youth Care Worker-I (TYCW-I) must have compassion for children and is passionate about serving and making a difference in the lives of others. Provides care and service to unaccompanied children, while accompanying them on domestic flights and/or via ground transportation to sponsors or facilities all over the country. During these trips, the TYCW use their language skills to communicate in a way that is culturally sensitive, while fostering a safe and comfortable environment. The TYCW completes all paperwork (following standard operating procedures) for transportation, secures personal property, and any medication; provides an orientation; ensures the physical, emotional, and all health needs are met. The TYCW is always vigilant of surroundings; sets behavioral expectations, provides clear and consistent and appropriate behavioral guidance. The TYCW reports on trip progress throughout the transport and completes proper documentation upon completion of every work order.
Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Completes, verifies, and provides documentation to all parties involved.
  • If applicable, maintains a medication log for UC(s) to include the type of medication, method, and number of times the medication is self-administered throughout transport and any irregularities from what the prescription directs.
  • Reports to the Command Center at established check points and advises on any changes, disruptions throughout the transportation and documents all pertinent information.
  • The responsibilities of each Youth Care Worker will vary based on the qualifications and experience presented (manager(s), shift managers, etc.).
  • Reviews the documentation to ensure it contains all information needed for travel.
  • Provides meals and snacks for the children for the duration of the transport.
  • Documents all details, such as medication, meals provided (to include any refusals).
  • Provides clean and appropriate clothing based upon weather conditions during transportation.
  • Ensures that an orientation is provided to all children in a language they understand.
  • Responsible for the safe and secure transportation of unaccompanied children in a humane manner and in accordance with established transportation (land and air) policies and procedures.
  • Employee may be assigned to overnight, weekends, or holiday shifts to support 24/7 operations.
  • Culmen and ORR have a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination based on race, sexual orientation, religion, or other affiliation. Ensure all staff adhere to and are aware of this policy.
Preferred Qualification:
  • BA in Social Work
  • Experience working in Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), or related organizations.
Basic Qualification:
  • Ability to pass a drug test; may be subject to random drug testing throughout employment
  • High school diploma or GED
  • HSPD-12 PIV Credential Tier 1
  • National Agency Check and Inquiries—NACI Clearance
  • Fluent in Spanish/English
  • Empathetic and compassionate individual with the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Availability to support flexible schedules, including 12-hour shifts
  • 2+ years’ experience directly caring for or interacting with children at a youth care provider facility similar to: ABA behavioral health clinic, Behavioral health hospital, childcare organization, community-based home, juvenile residential facility, school, day care, emergency intake center, or similar organization
