Production Supervisor

As a Production Supervisor , Ormond Beach, responsible for safety, quality assurance, customer service, human resource management, profit and loss, budget maintenance, continuous improvement and corporate policy adherence. Maintain an effective interactive dialogue with Manager and all support departments such as Human Resources, Quality, Engineering, Process Engineering, Maintenance and Tool Room.

Your responsibilities

  • Communicate measurable job expectations
  • Effect a prompt corrective action plan for customer complaints, which includes properly using the customer complaint data log
  • Present manager with monthly report to include data relative to total defects, cost of defects, list of NPR and customer complaint corrective actions, both open and closed
  • Encourage team member participation in safety initiatives and subcommittees
  • Coach, counsel, encourage, discipline and reward team members, as warranted
  • Meet individual utilization goals
  • Answer all expedites within 24 hours, ensure that pertinent sales personnel are kept up to date on expedites
  • Profit and Loss Management: Meet individual efficiency goals
  • Ensure work instruction adherence
  • Safety: Cultivate a high departmental safety culture
  • Proactively lead Team Member efforts to improve uptime through systemic improvement of the existing process
  • Present manager with monthly data which includes status of all continuous improvement projects initiated and/or completed in the department
  • Ensure that all quality training of team members is affected on time
  • Cultivate an effective relationship with planners, sales personnel and other supervisor utilizing data tools available, ensure on schedule delivery of orders in the department
  • Meet flexed budget for factory supplies, direct labor, indirect labor, overtime and contract labor
  • Present monthly data to manager reporting any and all safety related incidents
  • Maintain shop supplies at a sufficient level to support operations without excessive spending
  • Resolve team member issues through problem resolution
  • Effect a prompt corrective action plan for all NPR's written in the department
  • Quality Assurance: Facilitate adherence to quality plan
  • Make effective employment decisions including quality hiring, reasonable retention, timely and candid performance evaluation, and appropriate counselling and discipline
  • Manage safety messages delivered at safety meetings
  • Proactively develop personal growth opportunities for team members
  • Ensure that each piece of equipment has a HSA, and that all operators have read and signed the document
  • Ensure that all safety training is completed in a timely manner
  • Initiate actions that support corporate safety goals and programs
  • Initiate timely and clearly written maintenance repair orders and follow up to ensure uptime maximization
  • Present manager with monthly delivery data to include "on time out of work center"
  • Ensure effective staff relations through team member engagement
  • Human Resources: Create a culture that promotes open and effective communication between team members and management
  • Promulgate participation in the CI programs
  • Initiate a thorough investigation for all incidents, whether an injury or near miss occurred and properly distribute this information to all managers and supervisors
  • Continuous Improvement: Acquire a working knowledge of programs designed for continuous improvement, such as 5S, Statistical Process Control, Kaizen and Six Sigma. Apply this knowledge in a structured process improvement format aimed toward safety, quality, flexibility, and cost improvement
  • Customer Service: Create a departmental culture that values customer satisfaction

Your background

  • Problem-solving skills
  • Basic PC software skills as a tool in the daily management/organization of production
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement processes, e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing systems, e.g., KBM, Kronos
  • Demonstrated skill in working across all organizational layers and disciplines

  • Certification in defined Continuous Improvement process preferred
  • Ability to write reports, and general business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, (both internal and external), and employees
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of the processes and production methods of assigned area
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with minimum of 3 years previous experience as a supervisor in an industrial environment OR a combination of equivalent education and/or experience, preferably in a related industry or industrial environment
