Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an environment of continuous improvement. Engage and empower employees to improve the areas in which they work. Develop and maintain Value Stream maps for current and future states. Support the execution and completion of kaizen events to support the Value stream map future state. Educate and coach employees on lean manufacturing principles. Promote the use of problem solving tools such as 5 Why to drill down to root cause and implement permanent corrective actions. Facilitate continuous improvement (Kaizen) events focused on improving safety, quality and efficiency. Develop and implement visual management systems where appropriate. Actively encourage, promote and facilitate implementation of innovative solutions to ensure quality while delivering lower costs and shorter lead times. Minimize inventory storage and handling thru continuous improvement of material flow systems.
  • Direct the hiring, placing, transferring and promoting of employees. Appraise employee performance and recommend wage adjustment or change of status. Approve weekly employee payroll hours. Process and approve employee paperwork to include vacations, personal leave, accident reports, return-to-work information.
  • Perform duties such as creating/revising job descriptions, conducting Talent Development discussion sessions, rating performance, establishing/tracking goals and completing annual wage reviews. Responsible for coaching, motivating, and developing direct reports to successfully take on additional responsibilities. Engage and empower employees to improve the areas in which they work
  • Coordinate the activities of production operations and take necessary action to assure performance goals are met. Performance metrics include safety, quality, on-time delivery and productivity. Safety is the top priority and will never be compromised. Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are thoroughly investigated and permanent countermeasures completed in a timely manner. Hold employees accountable for meeting performance metrics. Manage and control manufacturing expense, scrap, overtime, farm out and process cost. Develop recommendations for capital projects and manufacturing expenses for the annual operating budget. Assist supervision in the planning of operation and methods to utilize available skills, knowledge, experience, materials, machines and tools to the best advantage of meeting performance goals. Anticipate, analyze and diagnose production problems, material shortages, tooling problems, equipment malfunction to expedite corrective actions. Organize and facilitate production area team meetings and activities. Provide leadership, direction and training for departmental supervisors and employees. Ensure that all supervisors and employees are provided with the proper training and motivation to be successful at meeting all Company expectations of them. Communicate Company policy enthusiastically and in concert with the intent of the policy. Maintain conformance with Company work rules and policies; issue warnings for violations and administer approved disciplinary measures when necessary. Efficiently manage variations in manufacturing demands.


Qualifications

  • Ability to multi task is important, as is meeting deadlines and presentation skills.
  • This position requires a four-year degree preferably in business or engineering and at least three years of prior experience, or seven to ten years of equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required with strong emphasis on all areas of communications, listening and speaking.
