This position is responsible to manage the Engineering Acquisition phase and provide customer support during the Serial Life, for customers located in California and the west coast region. This position will require a candidate that can remotely collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team as well as be able to work autonomously in support of project goals. The candidate should also possess an advanced understanding of the specificities of the mobility environment, as well as a strong technical leadership to maximize the Return on Engineering Investment and the content per vehicle.



Role And Responsibilities


  • PCP Management, supporting SE-Team(V2) generate/update timeline (I-Planet) in MS Project
  • Provide a first technical proposal that meet the customer’s requirements (see above) in less than 48Hr.
  • Comply with the ARaymond Automotive North America, LLC. teamwork philosophy, as well as all company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate all the technical aspect for global opportunities between California decision center and remote Engineering or production (Michigan / China / Europe).
  • Generate and maintain all required engineering documentation (DFM, DFMEA, DVP&R, ECR’s etc.) for all assigned projects.
  • Maintain relationships with engineering organizations of our customers, suppliers and OEM’s
  • Translate the customers’ requirement into solutions, by either identifying the best catalog match, new catalog product, re-engineering the customer design, creating a new design, or a proof of concept.
  • Develop and grow concepts to functional proof of concepts with viable manufacturing, test & validation strategy and preliminary costing.
  • Provide technical support to Business Development Manager, Product Line Managers (PLM), Key Account Managers (KAM).
  • Interface with the customers in the Bay area and southern California to fully understand their needs and requirements.
  • Lend technical support for customer presentations.
  • Develop and grow the identified opportunities in the California Business Development plan, with support from the Business Development Manager.
  • Manage other Engineering activities that are assigned by Management.



Education And Experience


  • Creativity, ability to think “out of the box”. Velocity, result and customer orientation is mandatory.
  • Solid CAD experience, CATIA V5/V6.
  • Experienced in multi-components designs and added value processes: High-speed assembly, sub-assembly, over molding and 2-shot, additive manufacturing.
  • Prior successful experience recommending AR product to customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build and maintain relationship with customers.
  • BS in Engineering (Mechanical preferred).
  • Fluent in English.
  • Must have a valid passport or ability to obtain passport
  • Occasional travel required – weekly Southern California, Quarterly Michigan. International travel, as required.
  • Experienced with metal stamping design and knowledge of stamping production (Stamping, Multi-slides, heat-treating…). Knowledge of different steel grades and properties.
  • Ability to work without clear specifications and ability to interpret assumed performance targets
  • Experienced with plastic design and knowledge of injection molding principles. Knowledge of different plastic material grades and properties.
  • Ability to work CAE/FEA team and be able to understand how to utilize FEA reports to improve product design.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new and fast-changing environment.
  • 5 years’ experience with a strong knowledge of engineering concepts and principals related to plastic and/or metal and /or assembly components used in the automotive industry.
