Title: Product Designer, Home Décor & Accessories

Reporting To: Director, Strategic Sourcing

Preferred Location: TX, WA, TN, GA, AZ

Job Overview:

The Product Designer will use creative and technical skills to conceptualize, research, present, develop and produce quality design concepts. You care about design and welcome honest feedback. You balance functional, trend-right designs with smart, creative risks to achieve the most effective solutions to delight the customer.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with growing cross-functional teams to curate, develop and execute product designs with accuracy and innovation.
• Translate brand objectives into commercially viable products for the mass market at varying price points.
• Have a deep working knowledge of multiple materials and manufacturing processes commonly used in home and gift product categories (home fragrance, jewelry, soft goods, hard goods in plastics/metals/woods/glass) and be able to communicate your design and development choices to internal and external partners.
• In consultation with team, research and develop seasonal trends, themes, concepts, colors, materials, fabrications, and styling to influence all designs for the brand(s).
• Deliver effective, cohesive product presentations for both internal and external partners.

Requirements:

• Experience working with global suppliers to develop your design concepts into ready-to-manufacture products
• Ability to work on more than one brand at a time, each with different aesthetic criteria
• Knowledgeable in the latest design technology – photoshop and illustrator expertise required, 3d modeling an asset
• Able to create technical specifications to communicate design intent and all design details to global factory partners
• Portfolio of work showing design expertise across multiple categories and brands
• Open to take on new responsibilities as they arise and as the team grows
• BA/BDes in industrial, product or fashion design
• Experienced and comfortable validating concepts through research, sampling, iterative prototyping
• Product development expertise - ability to think through manufacturing solutions and design/materials adjustments to achieve target unit costs
• Highly conceptual and creative thought process, but rooted in practicality and feasibility
• Luxury taste level with the ability to translate to mass market price points
• Tenacious and creative problem-solver
• Strategic in molding your work to the broader brand vision and product strategy
• 5-8 Years of experience designing and developing branded products
• Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain forward momentum with design and development process; juggling multiple development cycles at once
• Packaging design and on-product graphics experience an asset
• Thorough and detail-oriented
