The Opportunity
Currently, we are seeking a Process Engineer to add to our team in Naperville, IL. Join a team of Process Engineers in the design and implementation of projects in the Food and Beverage Industry.
- Regularly complete continuing education engineering and technical courses to further develop subject matter expertise.
- Perform field measurements to quantify design requirements.
- Manage and drive design teams and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors
- Compose control narratives to assist in programming of processes as per customer requirements.
- Identify all equipment capabilities, utility & infrastructure requirements, and develops Process Flow Diagrams and layout concepts.
- Assist in the development of bills of materials.
- Research and apply relevant codes and regulations.
- Frequent application of engineering fundamentals namely in the areas of bulk powder and dry ingredient handling, fluid dynamics, heat transfer and thermodynamics
- Perform feasibility studies and process designs for new product launches, facility upgrades and process improvements
- Analyze, design, and implement cost savings initiatives, including energy and utility audits
- Compose reports on recommendations to improve processes.
- Conduct client site visits and inspections and prepare necessary written reports or updates.
- Develop and update project requirements and specifications.
- Commission systems by testing and troubleshooting processes in the field; If required, work with vender technicians to remediate issues
- Regularly inspect that contractors appropriately manage adherence to client safety measures.
- Provide contractor field support and regularly inspect installation activities at client sites to ensure proper installation of all intended project designs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- Very strong technical skills
- Able to work flexible hours, weekends if required to effectively manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of CFIA, FDA and USDA food equipment and design standards
- A valid passport
- Understanding food plant Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs), area designations, clean design requirements and the impact to process and equipment layout designs
- Professional Engineer designation is an asset.
- A valid driver’s license - travel maybe required to support and service our clients at their premises.
- Follows Engineering Best Practices
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Well organized, detail oriented, self-motivated capable of working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- 3+ years process design experience in the beverage, dairy, food and pet food industries
