Job Description

We are searching for a part-time (around 20 hours per week) Press and Media Relations Assistant to join our amazing client, a prominent Environmental/Conservation Nonprofit. This might be an ideal position with someone in graduate school studying communications.


This is a contracted position, and is temporary through September 2023. It could turn into a permanent and full-time position. We are flexible when it comes to schedule, but ideally would like someone who could work on Tuesday or Thursdays. This will be a hybrid schedule, they have a lovely office in downtown Washington, DC. Covid vaccinations are required.


  • Developing press materials including press releases, media statements, pitch letters, interview briefs, and other materials
  • Coordinating proactive and reactive media campaigns, working with the Foundations teams primarily
  • Assist the PR & Media team in developing and executing communications plans that raise visibility of the Foundation
  • As needed, develop communications aimed for an internal audience
  • Performing other duties as assigned
  • Supporting executive leadership team by creating content, and pitching proactive engagements and media stories


Preferred/Required Education and Work Experience:

  • Demonstrated flexibility in writing styles, both in creative and tactical materials
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Analytical thinking, research, and editing skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of experience from accredited institution
  • Team player with strong relationship-building skills, nimble and tactical under pressure
  • At least 3 years of experience in marketing and/or communications position(s) requiring content development
  • Proven ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Exceptional communications skills – written, verbal, and visual
