Job Description
Overview


The Population Health Analyst is an Exempt position that reports directly to the Director of Strategic Consulting and supports Vital Incite’s (VI) mission by providing an evaluation of each client’s medical needs, trends in healthcare utilization, care coordination and impact of programs or services.


This position will be responsible for delivering reports from various sources including focus groups, employer/provider meetings, the data analytics system, surveys and other sources of data. The position demands a strong understanding of the employer group and their data to provide deeper research and reporting to develop a complete report of their outcomes and desired strategies. This position will begin to identify suggestions to further improve the health and healthcare spend of the group.


Key Responsibilities


  • Work in collaboration with the lead strategist to articulate the results of employer reports.
  • Participate in focus group meetings to further understand issues related to clients.
  • Identify opportunities to improve outcomes of the Population Health program.
  • Participate in local community health initiatives with the other members of the VI team to allow for continued improvement in services or programs offered to our employers.
  • Work with data team to determine new reporting needs and requests for ad hoc reports.
  • Understand and identify the latest trends in healthcare/disease management and the impact that has on the medical spend and/or health of the employer population.
  • Analyze other sources of data, such as biometrics, survey results and data from the VI reporting tool to understand and illustrate the progress of an employer program.
  • Identify and articulate issues found, or results observed, in the employer’s data to illustrate the impact of programs or trends in healthcare utilization.
  • Responsible for the initial analysis and presentation packages of the employer’s health data to assist the strategist in the overall development of the population health reporting.
  • Responsible for understanding the various vendor options in place for each employer as they relate to biometric screening, health coaching, onsite education, disease management and social determinants of health, as well as including suggestions for new vendor options in the Executive Summary that would benefit employers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Scope -
  • This position could have frequent contact with key stakeholders, both internally and externally. The successful applicant must be able to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with all stakeholders, employees, and customers.
  • This position will be required to perform a variety of tasks, work under general supervision and must be able to manage competing demands.
  • Work Environment -
  • Must be able to make decisions concerning responsibilities with regard to priority and be disciplined and organized in the efficient use of time.
  • This position has access to highly confidential information, which will require exceptional confidentiality to protect the privacy of clients as well as VI’s intellectual property.
  • This position is an administrative role within the VI organization that will not be responsible for directly supervising others.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Administration, Public Health or related field with at least two years of previous experience, or an advanced degree in Public Health or Healthcare Administration with less experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and report complex information in various formats and to varied audiences
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Experience -
  • Intermediate to advanced level of expertise in Microsoft Excel skill (should be proficient at creating and formatting Excel sheets for data analysis, inserting graphs/charts, utilizing pivot tables, exporting data in various formats, etc.)
  • Demonstrated data analysis and problem-solving skills
