Job Description
INTRODUCTION: The Racine Police Department serves the City of Racine in Southeastern Wisconsin with a population of 77,816 people. We are a department that has adopted the philosophy of Community Orientated Policing and is a recognized leader in this area. Our Mission is to Protect Life and Property, Promote Community Partnerships, Build Trust and Serve with Honor. POSITION PURPOSE: The Racine Police Department is a community Oriented policing agency that is looking for a customer service representative. This role would be suitable for an individual who has experience in customer service, preferably in a law enforcement environment. This position would be responsible for, but not limited to; assisting the public with requests for reports, citation payments, and warrant payments. Additional responsibilities includes; data entry of reports, arrests, and citations. Essential Duties ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Prior training or experience in data entry is required (test required - Data Entry Vendor 1 - 6200 KPH/95% accuracy). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Post high school education preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Fulfill customers' requests in an accurate and timely fashion.

  • Perform other duties as assigned. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Proficient at interacting with all types of customers in an appropriate and professional manner, at all times.

  • Scan documents, make copies, data entry in various computer systems, retrieve information from various computer systems, ability to use the Wisconsin Crime Information Bureau and the T.I.M.E. system, file documents, answer telephones, respond to mail requests, and prepare and distribute information according to departmental policy.
  • Ability to perform functions independently and to make decisions in accordance with established regulations, procedures, and/or policies.
  • Ability to organize a variety of complex material and to complete them in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Ability to perform repetitive clerical work requiring attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Assist customers at the public service counter. This includes, but is not limited to, taking payments for various types of citations and/or warrants, printing out accident and/or incident reports, handling money, answering phone calls, and assisting other agencies and companies with requests.
  • Fast paced, stressful environment at times
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with and get along well with others. Supplemental Information SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: None. PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE POSITION:
  • Sitting, standing, and/or typing for long periods of time Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Maintain a consistent attendance record.
  • Ability to work independently within an office environment and take responsibility with little or no direction.
  • Prior customer service experience is required.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to follow both written and oral instructions.
  • Typing for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift, carry, and/or push/pull at least 25lbs. EQUIPMENT USED: Computer, copier, fax machine, multi-line telephone, and scanning equipment.
  • Review reports, letters, forms, and other information that may be sensitive and/or graphic in nature (i.e. homicides, sexual assaults, automobile accidents, etc.) through data entry.
