Job Description

The University of Iowa Athletics Department seeks applications from self-motivated, results-oriented individuals with the knowledge, ability and interpersonal skills required to serve as Player Development Coach, Women’s Basketball – a full-time, 12-month position, salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, including full University benefits. Responsibilities: The Player Development Coach for Women’s Basketball is responsible for providing on-court coaching and off-court administrative assistance to the Head Coach, including assisting incoming student-athletes in making a smooth transition into college life socially, academically and athletically, and assisting student-athletes with life skills and career development. This position will require frequent work in the evenings and on weekends.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to operate effectively within a highly regulated team environment.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to: Utilize basic office support software (similar to Microsoft Office 365)
  • Ability to work constructively and collaboratively in a diverse environment, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships;
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as demonstrated through effective and creative presentation/training delivery; public speaking engagements; clinician experience, or development of creative promotional or educational communications;
  • A valid U.S. driving license and the ability to meet and maintain University of Iowa Driving Program standards.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of administrative, coaching or playing experience in an NCAA Division I women’s basketball program, to include talent assessment and/or skill development;

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of and ability to:
    • Assist with the development and delivery of effective life skills programming;
    • Collaborate with campus partners and alumni to create and promote career development opportunities for student-athletes;
    • Develop and oversee external outreach projects and networking, including community service and alumni relations.

  • More than three years of work experience with a Division 1 women’s basketball program;
  • Collaborate with campus partners and alumni to create and promote career development opportunities for student-athletes;
  • Assist with the development and delivery of effective life skills programming;
