Definition of Class
This position works directly with the Head Coach on a wide variety of administrative and operational duties. The incumbent plans, directs and implements administrative functions; develops and maintains confidential reports, executive summaries, and correspondence; and serves as a liaison with administration, staff, student-athletes, and other stakeholders.
Examples of Work Performed
- Coordinates and attends meetings with various constituent groups as deemed appropriate by the Head Coach.
- Provides operational support and oversight of logistics and budget management for the office.
- Coordinates, edits, and approves communications to the Athletics community from the assigned sport’s office.
- Travels with the Head Coach and members of the coaching staff to assist in logistics, scheduling, transportation, and other duties as assigned, as needed.
- Coordinates and hosts activities for the Head Coach and athletic program, in conjunction with other university offices.
- Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.
- Oversees the Head Coach’s calendar/obligations and manages invitations/requests, to include oversight of related travel and itineraries.
- Coordinates and hosts activities for the office in conjunction with other university departments.
- Manages staff meetings, develops agendas, plans and establishes meeting schedule, maintains meeting minutes; triages and distributes external communications to pertinent audiences.
- Provides confidential briefings on upcoming meetings and develops confidential reports and executive summaries.
- Manages Head Coach’s incoming and outgoing communications via email, interoffice memoranda, and USPS (if applicable).
- Provides supervision and guidance to administrative support staff.
- Coordinates logistics and travel for the Head Coach and any accompanying staff.
- Gathers, investigates, researches and analyzes information affecting program operations.
- Works with staff, Athletics senior leadership, and student-athletes to conduct research on behalf of the Head Coach.
- Responds to routine inquiries as delegated by the Head Coach.
- Coordinates with staff and Athletics executive leadership to bring priorities to the attention of the Head Coach.
- Develops and implements operational policies and procedures for the office.

Essential Functions

- Plans, directs, and implements a variety of administrative functions on behalf of the Head Coach.
Minimum Education/Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree, in a related field, from an accredited college or university.
AND
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience related to the above described duties.
Substitution Statement: Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
