Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a Plant Manager for our location in Warren, OH.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Plans, manages, monitors, and controls overall plant operations to meet the company’s financial objectives striving for continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, safety, productivity, quality, and other cost savings initiatives . Integrates and manages the Warren plant driving growth through safe and efficient manufacturing while improving yields and output.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
  • Reviews daily operating reports to resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance issues and ensure minimal expenditures and prevent operational delays
  • Builds teams and collaborates with cross-functional groups (HR, Safety, Finance, Sales etc.) to resolve day-to-day issues, while providing strategic support to accomplish continuous improvement.
  • Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
  • Leads implementation of new manufacturing initiatives, including strategic resource allocation and applying good manufacturing principles, organization structure, leadership, sourcing and integration, production systems and techniques for improved efficiencies and adherence to best practice.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Provides organizational direction/communication consistent with corporate goals, objectives, and vision to all departments within the Plant.
  • Provides strong leadership to the employees at the plant to ensure high morale, team work and good employee relations, at all levels, including on the shop floor.
  • Formulates policies, programs, and objectives affecting the schedule, quality, and cost of company production.
  • Builds a performance-based culture around accountability, metrics, safety, and operational excellence for the facilities.
  • Creates solid operating plans for current month, and actively identifies and prepares for plans/actions/challenges for upcoming month.
  • Regular, full-time predictable onsite attendance is an essential function of this role.
  • Delegates work to appropriate personnel and provides accurate and detailed instructions for timely work completion in accordance with established safety regulations, legal regulations, quality standards and in compliance with Company procedures.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree, Business Management, Engineering or technical field preferred
  • 5-7 years experience in a manufacturing (preferably in ERW Steel Pipe and Tube field) leadership position with proven experience developing a strong operating team across all levels. Solid labor relations experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
  • Strong verbal and written communication and listening skills to interact with internal team members and external customers
  • Ability to identify key issues in a situation and think creatively and strategically when faced with internal and external challenges
  • Goal oriented, aggressive self-starter with an entrepreneurial personality who can make strategic decisions with a sense of velocity and urgency
  • High ethical standards
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with ability to focus time on the most important and urgent issues
  • Working knowledge of ISO and API standards
