The Plant Manager oversees all daily operations of the plant, directing and coordinating activities while ensuring policies and procedures are followed. Responsible for all manufacturing operations, including but not limited to Production Planning, Quality Assurance, Sanitation, Maintenance, Safety.

Responsibilities:

¦ Provide overall leadership, direction, and coordination for Plant Operation, including Production, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, Scheduling, and Special Projects.

¦ Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.

¦ Monitor and set standards for operations and help identify and correct bottlenecks.

¦ Ensure all plant personnel are operating in compliance with plant procedures and customer or regulatory requirements.

¦ Help ensure HACCP, GMP’s, Standard Operating Procedures, and SQF programs are being followed.

¦ Champions Safety. Actively monitors and supports all safety projects and efforts throughout the plant.

¦ Control and minimize labor overtime and repair costs.

¦ Provide leadership, training, and development to Supervisors

¦ Guide department managers in development of labor usage strategies to better utilize resources.

¦ Actively works with the HR Department in policy development-employee grievances-employee development issues and employee motivation.

Qualifications:

  • Able to coordinate and supervise all plant activities
  • Leadership Skills: Able to establish a cooperative team environment by exhibiting cooperative team behaviors. Able to effectively coach team members guiding individual performance to acceptable levels
  • Knowledgeable on all aspects of plant operations and management
  • May require flexibility in scheduling to cover 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts and/or weekends
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • 8 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; 5 years supervisory experience.
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
  • Able to accept and take on new challenges and effectively lead people through change
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field of study preferred
