Plant Manager

Leominster MA – 2 manufacturing plants

Job Summary:


To manage and lead the overall plant operations ensuring the achievement of plant targets for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost. This will be executed through strong leadership to the plant team and managing the systems, equipment, people, and materials according to established policies, procedures, specifications, and customer requirements. This individual reports directly to the Director-Manufacturing. Scope for this Plant Manager role oversees two sites with approximately 75 co-workers (non-union). Essential Job Functions:

  • Best Practices leadership
  • Meet safety targets and drive a safety culture and environment to send every employee home every day without injury.
  • Leads the Management for Daily Improvement (MDI) process to capture daily & trending opportunities, prioritize required actions, and execute sustained improvements.
  • Effective, cost-efficient planning and utilization of manpower, materials, and machinery
  • Manage all assigned cost centers.
  • Ensure compliance with department safety, product safety, fire protection, Company policies/procedures, and housekeeping programs.
  • Drive employee engagement action planning for the facility
  • Ensures facilities compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Oversees all aspects of human capital planning & management for the facilities, including goal setting, improvement targets for KPIs, salary planning, and performance management.
  • Lead communication to all plant associates regarding business needs and results
  • Acts as a safety leader and puts safety first in all responsibilities. Works in conjunction with the Environmental Health & Safety Team to establish and maintain all policies and programs to assure a safe working environment.
  • Drives High Performance Culture
  • Attract, hire, develop direct reports and create strong succession plans
  • Plant talent to deliver on plan.
  • Meets or exceeds plant business plan and KPI’s.
  • Delivers on an established budget.
  • Lead and drive plant safety culture to reduce risk of injury and exhibit a “safety first” priority in all responsibilities.
  • Ensures effective, timely and well-developed communications for all co-workers.
  • Strong Human Capital planning, development, and management for the facility.
  • Lead efforts at Best Practice sharing with other facilities.
  • Manage process control initiatives by ensuring manufacturing SOPs exist, and that they are sufficient for quality, safety, and process control.

Education/Knowledge:

● A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or related technical field

● 7-10+ years of relevant experience in a production environment

● Demonstrated passion for safety and quality

● 5+ years of leadership experience, preferably in flexible packaging or printing

● Proven ability to lead and drive continuous improvement.

● Strong Customer Service mindset

● Strong written and verbal communication skill

● Demonstrated understanding of drivers of plant results, including ability to interpret financial results

● Six Sigma Certification strongly preferred
