Overview
The Plant Director is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations of the plant. The plant director achieves this by directing operations of all plant personnel and functions, including; production, safety, quality, customer service, and ensuring efficient utilization of resources, equipment, materials and manpower. The plant director is also responsible for ensuring adherence to all plant procedures and programs.
Responsibilities
The primary duties of a Plant Director include:
  • Responsible for the selection, training, growth and development and retention of all staff personnel to to enable attainment of organizational goals.
  • Act as the Plant’s Project Manager on new initiatives including those involving equipment and molds.
  • Oversees the overall plant budget and responsible for ensuring that all departments are operating within approved budgetary plans, while meeting productivity targets.
  • Partners with the sales department and customer service to effectively meet and maximize utilization of plant facilities.
  • Oversees the production planning process to ensure customer requirements are satisfied.
  • Lead and Directs a large multi-profit center and segmented operation to deliver on Safety, Quality, and Productivity Objectives.
  • Understands, follows and enforces all established Health & Safety, Quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices.
  • Directs overall activities of multiple operational segments including an Operations Manager, Production Supervisors and Matrixed Support Teams.
  • Leads the plant quality initiatives through the implementation of corrective actions to address customer and/or internal complaints,
  • 0-25% travel may be required.
  • Coordinates new product qualifications, and participates in internal and external quality system audits and developing and implementing corrective action plans.
  • May be responsible for special projects related to other functional areas.
  • Promote an open door policy and cultivate an environment conducive to team building.
  • Ensures continuous improvement plans are developed and implemented to ensure short and long range goals are achieved.
  • Develops and maintains sound relations with customers, working with them to identify systems improvements and possible supply chain cost reductions.
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of the plants strategic and tactical plans, providing the needed focus and drive to achieve the plant and overall company objectives and goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement plans using Operation Excellence tools across cross functional departments.
  • Leads the plant safety initiatives through the participation, development and implementation of safety training programs, plant safety meetings, safety audits and encouraging employee involvement and ownership through various methods including safety suggestion and recognition programs.
  • Participates in monthly, quarterly and year-end physical inventory counts, in accordance with corporate guidelines.

Qualifications
Education and/or Work Experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree and/or related plant management experience; or equivalent combination of education and related plant management experience is highly preferred.
A minimum of five years’ experience as a Plant Manager in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated leadership skills strongly preferred.
Six Sigma, Lean, And/or Kaizen Experience Preferred.
Supervisory Duties:
Direct reports include members of the plant leadership team. Oversees several indirect reports including all assigned matrixed personnel.
Compensation Statement
The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.
