Quality Director Jobs

A leading manufacturer of high-strength, carbon steel API 5L pipe for the gas and oil industries, is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to join their team as Quality Director. The Quality Director will be responsible for developing and implementing quality control tests, inspecting pipe at various stages of production, and writing reports documenting any production issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review lab results to ensure that all customer and API specs are met
• Review and interpret API specifications
• Maintain and update the Quality Manual as needed
• Determine metallurgical specifications needed to order skelp and calculate the tonnage of coils needed to complete an order
• Create lab test specification requirements to meet customer and API requirements
• Be extremely proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Work with the Production Planner to order raw materials for orders and ensure a timely arrival of the raw product
• Review order requirements with personnel and review the Quality Manual and Production Procedures
• Participate in customer pre-production meetings and articulate how the mill operation and quality process meets customer and API specifications
• Lift 75 lbs., twist and turn, kneel, and stand for long periods of time, climb a ladder, and work overhead as required
• Oversee production quality to ensure a quality product is being produced and that all quality personnel are performing their job

Qualifications:

• Experience creating lab test specification requirements to meet customer and API requirements
• Proficiency in reviewing and interpreting API specifications
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a steel facility
• Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or related field
• In-depth knowledge of metallurgical specifications needed to order skelp and calculate the tonnage of coils needed to complete an order
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
