Job Description

(REMOTE) The Philanthropy Advisor will work to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of planned giving donors and prospects. This is a full-time remote position covering the East Coast region for our global nonprofit organization. Individuals in this region will be required to travel for day or overnight trips to meet with donors and prospects. The primary responsibilities as a Philanthropy Advisor will be to present appropriate gift planning strategies, utilizing tools, techniques and vehicles that will assist donors in maximizing the value of their charitable gifts to The Fellowship. Keeping current events and news surrounding the Middle East, specifically impacting Israel will be a top priority in this position. Staying current with estate and tax laws are necessary in this position, as well as industry trends and best practices.

We are seeking an individual with a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Non-Profit Management or the equivalent experience in major gifts or planned giving with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in planned giving with proven fundraising track record, or a substantially related field such as major gift fundraising, estate planning, financial planning or law. Additionally, indivduals with a strong availability to build relationships with a wide range of donors, understanding their needs and passions will be a marker for success in this position. Professional certification or membership in professional non-profit or other relevant organization strongly desired, such as: Certified Fund Raising Executive; Certified Specialist in Planned Giving; Chartered Advisor of Philanthropy; Certified Financial Planner, or Juris Doctorate preferred.

Technical and Individual Skills:

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of planned giving techniques, from bequest to charitable gifts and trusts.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams) and donor databases.
  • Knowledge and understanding of religions, specifically Christianity and Judaism.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional ability to create and deliver presentations.
  • Effective, compassionate listening skills.
  • Skilled in identifying, cultivating, stewarding and securing donors at a high level of giving.
  • Strong organizational, time management and attention to detail skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with strict deadlines.
  • Travel is required – day and overnight via air and automobile
