Our 886-bed nonprofit, acute, tertiary, teaching Level I trauma center hospital is located in the heart of Los Angeles. The Pharmacy Department has over 450 staff members who provide comprehensive inpatient pharmacy services as well as outpatient services via two cancer centers, outpatient pharmacies and ambulatory care clinics.
Committed to the education and training of pharmacists, students/interns, residents, technicians, and other health care professionals. We are affiliated with several Schools of Pharmacy and offers PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs. The residency and student experiential programs at CSMC continue to grow with every successive year, where over 125 residents have graduated from the accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency program since 1985 and more than 200 student rotations are offered at CSMC annually. Recently, CSMC was recognized as “Site of the Year” awards by two major affiliated CA Schools of Pharmacy for providing an exceptional experiential learning environment for their students.
As an Investigational Drug Pharmacist (non-oncology) at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center you will organize and maintain Pharmacy Investigational Drug Services across Cedars-Sinai Medical Services and work with other Investigational Drug Pharmacists to deliver safe and effective services. You would participate in Research and Institutional Review Board (IRB) related activities to assure compliance with federal, state, FDA, and other regulations. Additionally, you would develop policies and procedures SOP's (standard operating procedure) for safe and efficient storage, preparation, distribution and control of investigational drugs. Develops educational material and provides education to healthcare professionals related to the protocol compliance. Prepares and maintains comprehensive, accurate, and timely records and reports including usage and dispensing records, collection forms, financial and budgeting information. Serves as a resource and liaison for principal investigators, research sponsors, the IRB, and pharmacy.
Educational Requirements:
- Pharm.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited school of pharmacy in the USA.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Board Certification in a specialty practice preferred.
- Current pharmacy licensure in the State of California.
- BLS certification as outlined in the Pharmacist Responsibilities in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(C.P.R.) and Code Blue Procedure: Pharmacy Policy and Procedure
Experience:
Three years or equivalent experience as an inpatient pharmacist in a teaching medical center with experience with investigational drugs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and professional skills.
- Completion of a PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency or equivalent practice experience is preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology as related to drug usage.
Physical Demands:
Physical Requirements(physical abilities essential to perform the job):
- Frequent standing; walking, bending; reaching, occasional sitting, pushing & pulling, lifting of materials up to 40 pounds for distances to 10 feet.
- Sufficient mobility to access equipment, patients and other customers.
- Able to read information on medication labels.
- Responsiveness to auditory alarms and communication devices including: telephones, beepers, fire alarms, and mechanical failure alarms.
