The CountyStat Office within the Office of Management and Budget is seeking a talented and driven individual to join us as a CountyStat Analyst (Performance Management and Data Analyst (PMDA)). This full-time merit position offers a competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
As a PMDA in the Montgomery County CountyStat Office, you'll be at the forefront of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to drive significant improvements in our business processes and government services. By collaborating with departments across the county, you'll harness the power of various cutting-edge analytical tools and methods to foster a data-informed culture that projects government efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Creating visually appealing reports and data visualizations
- Collaborating with departments to monitor performance and implement improvement strategies
- Extracting and analyzing data from multiple County information systems
- Collaborating with County government departments to maximize the potential of administrative and public data sources
- Utilizing statistical analysis, data visualization, and other techniques
- Conducting thorough research and analysis
- Developing compelling presentations and data-driven recommendations
The ideal candidate for this position possesses strong analytical skills and is adept at breaking down complex challenges, conducting gap analyses, implementing continuous improvement, and measuring results. Furthermore, the candidate should be comfortable adapting to change, working with ambiguity, and quickly familiarizing themselves with new tools and technologies.

Performance Management and Policy Analyst III (grade: N28) Salary: $83,052 - $134,500
Performance Management and Policy Analyst II (grade: N25) Salary: $73,173 - $117,424
This position requires the ability to attend meetings or perform work at various County locations. Some after-hours work is required to meet budget deadlines and business needs. This position is eligible to Telework up to 80% of the work week.

Minimum QualificationsIf filled at the Performance and Policy Analyst III :
Experience : Four (4) years of professional experience performing data analysis and interpretation, program evaluation and/or process improvement in an academic, data administration or business data analytics environment.
Education : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Operations Research, Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, Public Policy, Management, Finance, Statistics, Engineering, or related field.
Equivalency : (1) An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. (2) Possession of a graduate degree in one of the above fields may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
If filled at the Performance and Policy Analyst II :
Experience : Three (3) years of professional experience performing data analysis and interpretation, program evaluation, and/or process improvement in an academic, data ad ministration or business data analytics environment.
Education : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Operations Research, Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, Public Policy, Management, Finance, Statistics, Engineering, or related field.
Equivalency : (1) An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. (2) Possession of a graduate degree in one of the above fields may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
