Job Overview
We’re looking for an experienced HR Specialist to join our growing team!
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the HR Specialist role would help Binary Defense grow and scale in 2023 and beyond. This position would be the main processor for payroll and benefit functions. This role would also perform audits, process employee profile changes throughout the employee life cycle, and other payroll related functions, such as benefit bill reconciliation.

- Work with Finance and Business Unit Leaders on requests and projects, as needed.
- Administer all payroll related items – such as benefits and balance/reconcile monthly bills.
- Other projects and responsibilities, as assigned by the Director of HR.
- First point of contact for team members with payroll and benefit related questions, concerns, etc.
- Maintain and approve all integrations with Paylocity and Ease platforms as well as 401(k) vendor, Transamerica
- Actively work on the Year-End payroll and benefit processes, including open enrollment and the transition to payroll for January 1st each year
- Perform auditing in relation to payroll, benefits and employee data
- Manages semi-monthly payroll processing for the multi-state organization including pre and post-payroll reporting and reconciling.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
- 3+ years related experience in Human Resources payroll and/or benefits function
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient experience with at least one HRIS platform, performing payroll and/or benefits functions
- People-oriented, able to build solid professional relationships
- Ability to problem solve and find creative solutions
- Intermediate skill level with Excel - must be able to audit using VLOOKUP function
- General knowledge of employment law, both nationwide and multi-state
- Desire to learn and grow; ambitious with career
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, particularly Outlook and Excel
- Trust-worthy and compassionate
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize with daily work
- Proven track record of maintaining employee confidentiality
- Superior attention to detail
Preferred
- Prior experience in SaaS or Professional Service organizations
- PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification
- Prior experience with multi-state payroll processing
- Prior experience with Paylocity as an HRIS system
