The Payroll Analyst is responsible for testing and validating results, creating documentation, Merger & Acquisition work, tier 2 escalations, project management, year-end task oversight, overpayment oversight. This position will work closely with the Payroll Manager on other tasks. The Payroll Analyst will mentor and train others as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Create, update and maintain process documentation, including testing documentation
- Work with our Tier 2 partners to process white glove/complex transactions
- Act as a functional Subject Matter Expert for Payroll Processing
- Mentor and train Payroll Processing Specialist and Payroll Senior Specialist
- Assist with workload needs by splitting workload and adjusting tasks based on workload needs
- Other projects as assigned
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees as well as external customers and vendors
- Manage the Global Timekeeping System, including training and communicating any trends or changes to the Specialists
- Participate in defining requirements for various projects, enhancements and defects
- Manage all Payroll Robotics processes by working with our support team when issues arise and communicating out to the Specialist on status, changes or upcoming testing needs
- Collaborate with Benefits, Compensation, Financial Fitness and HR communities in the support of HR business initiatives
- Create and calculate overpayment spreadsheets and communicate the information with the employee
- Ensure compliance with company policy and various Federal, state and local jurisdiction legal requirements
- Work with collections vendor when accounts have been turned over to collections
- Create FAQs and training materials
- Attend Merger & Acquisition department meetings and, work with Payroll Manager to support initiatives related to Payroll and employee integration; create action plans
- Conduct user acceptance testing for new functionality and defect fixes within GSS
- Review and approval of overpayment spreadsheets and provide feedback to the specialist where needed
- Complete year end tasks and prep work to ensure all tasks are completed in the necessary timeframes
- Collaborate with our tier 1 partners on process improvements, trends and/or changes to ensure they have the necessary resources
- Assist with testing for fixes, enhancements, robotics, upgrades to payroll systems and other integrating platforms by building, executing and validating test scenarios
- Work with current and former employees to pay back money owed to the company
- Develop and run reports in payroll systems to perform research and validation of data
- Support the Payroll manager in overseeing and coordinating multiple projects and process improvements
- Research errors, determine root cause and make recommendations for on-going process improvements

Required Qualifications:
- Various hours as needed to support payroll projects
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks with hard deadlines simultaneously; Project documentation discipline
- 3+ years functional experience with Payroll Processing and systems
- Solid analytical, problem solving, and payroll related technical skills
- BA or BS or equivalent in experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Visio
- Experience with testing and documentation
- Knowledge of internal systematic controls related to Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
- Solid understanding of how to build efficient payroll processes

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
