Qualifications:
Texas Certified Nurse Aide
Minimum of 6 months experience
General Duties:
Perform all duties as assigned and in accordance with facility’s established policies and procedures, nursing care procedures and safety rules and regulations.
Make resident rounds at the beginning of each shift and every two hours thereafter to administer quality nursing care.
Verify the identification of a resident before administering nursing care or serving food, to assure that appropriate care is being provided to the correct resident.
Assure that water pitchers are cleaned, filled with fresh drinking water and within the resident’s reach.
Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by the Charge Nurse, RN Supervisor, Director of Nurses, or Administrator.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Certified in Basic Life SupportorHeartsaver CPR with AED within 90 days of employment,and
- Certified as a Nursing Assistant by the Texas Department of Health, preferredor
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program (Certification or Registration preferred)
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Certified as a Nursing Assistant by the Texas Department of Healthorproof of passing the TX CNA examorin the Emergency Department only, no experience if graduate from EMT (Basic or Intermediate Level) or Paramedic Program
- Prior patient care experience requiredorin lieu of experience one of the following certifications:
Principal Accountabilities:
- Responsible for timely and accurate documentation of information related to patient treatment including vital signs, treatment parameters, and change in condition.
- Provides direct patient care for assigned patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Demonstrates safe work practices and attitudes; follows safety rules; works to prevent unsafe conditions and behaviors; and participates in organizational departments safety programs; adheres to all MH policies and procedures.
- Obtain pre and post treatment vitals, weight and vascular access condition. Report any unusual changes or findings to the nurse.
- Assist in the maintenance of a safe and clean working environment.
- Obtain and prepare laboratory specimens as prescribed.
