This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday to Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 08:00am – 05:00pm.
*All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Utilizes computer systems to enter access or verify patient data in real - time ensuring accuracy and completeness of information
- Responds to patient and caregivers' inquiries related to routine and sensitive topics always in a compassionate and respectful manner
- Collects patient co-pays as appropriate and conducts conversations with patients on their out-of-pocket financial obligations
- Identifies outstanding balances from patient’s previous visits and attempts to collect any amount due
- Generates, reviews and analyzes patient data reports and WQ's and follows up on issues and inconsistencies as necessary
- Verifies insurance coverage, benefits and creates price estimates, reverifications as needed
- In a call center setting, communicates directly with patients and / or families via phone to complete the preregistration process by collecting patient demographics, health information, and verifying insurance eligibility / benefits

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
- 1+ years of customer service experience, handling moderate to complex transactions
- Basic computer experience using a keyboard and mouse and moving between screens
- 1+ years of healthcare experience, including familiarity with medical terminology
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel (create, edit and save spreadsheets)
Telecommuting Requirements:
- Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
- Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
- Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a hospital or medical office
- 1+ years of hospital billing experience
