Dyer, Munster, Crown Point -PCA Training Program
Schedule:
- The first two weeks of training is 7AM-3:30PM.
- Clinical rotations start on the third week and the schedule could change depending on your clinical schedule.
- There is a combination of in-class lectures at our education center and hands on training before starting clinical rotations in the hospital.
- The course is 6 weeks long.
- No one is allowed to be over 40 hours a week during the program.
- You are expected to be there every day, all day.
Supplies:
- The book, study materials, and any required equipment are provided to you.
- You can wear professional clothing or scrubs the first two days
- The assigned scrub color is royal blue
- Scrubs do have to be purchased through the hospital.

In class information:
- You will be given a study guide for the final simulation and final exam.
- Lecture is every day, followed by a quiz.
- To successfully complete the program, you must pass the quizzes, midterm exam, final exam, and the final simulation with a score of 80% or more.
After successful completion of the course:
- You will be assigned to the position and shift in which you applied for.
- Please note classroom education and training may be on a shift different from what you will be working. During the interview process, it will be discussed what shift you will be working (days, evenings, or nights)
- You will not be eligible for a PRN position.
- You must take a position that is a minimum of 0.6 FTE
- You will not be eligible for a PRN position.
- Part time is 0.6 FTE, or 24 scheduled hours/week: two 12-hour shifts per week, with a weekend rotation.
- Full time is 0.9 FTE, or 36 scheduled hours/week: three 12-hour shifts per week and a weekend rotation.
Do I get a certification at the end of the class?
- This program is not a CNA certification class. It does not make you eligible to take the state CNA test. This program allows you to work for Franciscan as a PCA II.
Benefits:
- The employees are benefit eligible at the first of the next month they are hired into a part-time or full-time position. Benefits are open for selection during orientation.
