Dental Clinic, UMKC School of Dentistry

The UMKC School of Dentistry is seeking a patient-focused Patient Accounts Representative (UM Job Title: Office Support Assistant IV) primarily working as a Receptionist who is team-oriented and known for their outstanding customer service, attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to take initiative.
Daily work includes researching patient problems, and accurately processing a high volume of transactions for a diverse customer base, therefore problem-solving, flexibility, and multitasking skills are important. The ideal candidate must be able to perform job tasks in a busy environment with frequent interruptions, while meeting deadlines and producing high-quality work. Successful applicants are helpful and patient, with the ability to problem solve in fast-paced situations, and provide outstanding customer service to patients, faculty, staff, and students.
Patient Accounts Representative / Receptionist
  • Greet customers, issue receipts, refunds, credits or change due to customers and explain benefit coverage to patient.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards or automatic debits
  • Compute and record totals of transactions
  • Keep a balance sheet of amounts and numbers of transactions
  • Count money in cash drawers to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous patient accounts, and/or health care billing experience
  • Previous cashiering experience/ ability to count correct change

Full Time/Part Time

  • Full time (1.0 FTE), benefit-eligible, staff position

Salary

  • $15.00 - $17.00 per hour. commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.
