Summary of the position:
The purpose of this position is to support department-wide family and community engagement work ensuring that all rural and diverse communities have the access needed to human services, are able to contribute meaningfully in program and policy advancements, and develop functional capabilities that enable them to participate fully and build lasting partnerships. This position operates independently, with support from the Director of Family and Community Engagement, and provides subject matter expertise on the topic of family and community engagement in order to improve the health and well-being of children, youth and families throughout Colorado. This position uses full discretion and creativity to ensure those most affected are engaged in programmatic decision-making processes. This position leads the coordination, enhancement and implementation of the CDHS Family Voice Council (FVC).
This position will consult and coach the FVC presenters who are seeking feedback from the council to ensure productive conversation and meaningful and relevant feedback/recommendations. This position is a lived experience resource and advises on the use of plain and accessible language for all family-facing communications and notifications. The position ensures and/or directly provides training, consultation, and coaching to support state and local human services partners in effectively identifying, engaging, evaluating and analyzing their strategies for community engagement/inclusion. In doing so, the position collaborates with internal and external partners to promote meaningful engagement practices across programs and systems. The person in this position must possess a foundational level of knowledge and lived expertise about the human services system, the programs the department oversees and expertise and experience related to community engagement and inclusion

Minimum Qualifications:
Education / Experience:
Six (6) years of professional experience in a human services, or community engagement/partnership related role, which must include lived experience with/being a recipient of Human Services related benefits.
OR
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment and two (2) years of professional experience in a human services, or community partnership related role, which must include lived experience with/being a recipient of Human Services related benefits.
Substitutions:
Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Decision Making and the ability to act autonomously.
- Customer Service.
- Excellent ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Tracking changes based on family/community input
- Comfortable with virtual and in-person meetings.
- Experience and comfort working with senior executive leadership of large organizations.
- Knowledge of various virtual platforms and the ability to trouble shoot basic technical issues.
- Strategic Planning and Organizing.
- Experience facilitating meetings, trainings, and events.
- Adaptability.
- Basic reporting skills.
- Focus on improving family engagement efforts
- Familiarity with working with data:
- Building Relationships with various stakeholders.
- Analyzing qualitative and quantitative data
Conditions of Employment
- Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must (1) disclose that information on the application (2) provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position, (3) provide the employee number from the applicant’s prior State employment. Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination and failure to provide this information will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.
