The shift lead is responsible for leading the organization and execution of a shift-based plan to deliver on safety, quality, and productivity goals for a packaging line. This position is closely connected to the Trio to ensure seamless communication throughout the team of key objectives. The shift lead oversees 6 to 15 Packaging Specialists and reports directly to the Line Lead as an important part of the Packaging Leadership team. This position is responsible for organizing the staffing of the identified production lines or teams and working closely with the trios to build team member capability to drive line performance. Shift Leads, while having authority to make and adjust line plans as needed, will be a “working” role on the line operating equipment alongside Packaging Specialists.

The Responsibilities:
  • Participates in Maintenance Planning and Scheduling processes to coordinate autonomous maintenance tasks, completion of assigned work orders, writing of notification as needed to initiate corrective or preventive maintenance
  • Performs a mixture of the following duties as required:
    • Quick Risk Prediction
    • Startup/shut down checklists
    • Line inspections in partnership with Department Senior Specialist
    • Initial Problem Solving based on triggers or events
    • Accident investigation/follow up
    • Audits in partnership with department or supporting groups
    • Attends meetings, and other duties as assigned by the business

  • Organize and lead the Planned Stop to address losses and maintain equipment at base condition in alignment with existing line standards (CL/CIL)
  • Accident investigation/follow up
  • Prioritizes and coordinates activities to support all areas of production while coaching team members with little direct supervision
  • Uses World Class Supply Chain Daily Management Systems to execute our work
  • Possesses advanced mechanical and technical skills relative to line operations to accomplish the required activities related to line performance and communication to stakeholders

  • Participates in job instruction, training and certification of skills against established skills and completes required matrices (or step up cards) for themselves and for employees on the line
  • Demonstrate the necessary experience, aptitude, education to perform duties such as machine set up, adjustment, troubleshooting, schedule management, coaching, and training of production teammates
  • Line inspections in partnership with Department Senior Specialist
  • Responsible for the shift team to reliably follow established work instructions, as well as special notices and/or instructions
  • Completes reporting concerning productivity, quality, safety, maintenance, line information, manpower schedules, station control, waste monitoring, and training records in an accurate, timely and legible manner
  • Monitors line performance against safety, quality, and productivity objectives as outlined by direction setting and line scorecard metrics.
  • Ensure team is staffed according to the needs for the day and partner with other packaging shift leads to optimize staffing in alignment with the standard staffing model and People Star Points
  • Lead the Shift Direction Setting meeting daily in according the WCSC standards and utilizing appropriate tools (QFS/EHS trigger)
  • Initial Problem Solving based on triggers or events
  • Monitors line performance against unplanned downtime and other production metrics to drive efficiency and waste reduction
The Other Qualifications:
  • Current Packaging (Bottle/Can/Keg) Specialist at Golden Brewery with demonstrated knowledge of packaging equipment, systems, and processes
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities
  • Aptitude with production systems such as EIT, SAP, MCMS
  • 5+ years of Packaging experience preferred
  • Preferred to be AM 1-3 Qualified (Equipment Owner), with proven knowledge of World Class Supply Chain process that include DDS cycles, CILs, planned stops
  • Strong personal skills

Job Posting Hourly Rate: $37.15
