Job Description

McKinley Packaging is a world class, sustainable corrugated packaging company in the United States and Mexico. The Company operates with a dynamic and entrepreneurial culture and is one of the leading independent corrugated packaging manufacturers operating today. This position will report to the Sales Manager at a production facility.

McKinley Packaging is seeking candidates with packaging sales experience in the Southeast sections of the United States. Opportunities for both experienced and entry level sales representatives are available.

Excellent compensation package which includes a base salary and commission on accounts.

The following is a representation of the job duties and other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities , include but are not limited to the following:

  • Work closely with local management to identify and pursue opportunities for other McKinley Packaging plants with specialty products or more appropriate logistics or equipment.
  • Control individual travel and entertainment expenses that adhere to yearly budget.
  • Demonstrate personal commitment to self-development of selling skills in the areas of priority setting, negotiating and problem solving.
  • Provide analysis and information on sales forecast and budget preparation.
  • Work closely with customer service department to ensure all customer specifications and information appropriate to customer handling are documented and communicated.
  • Co-lead key sales initiatives for larger accounts or strategic accounts. Coordinate with other Sales and Marketing personnel as needed.
  • Develop strong client relationships over time that provides significant input to planning company product, price and strategies.
  • Consult with management to provide accurate market feedback, pricing input and recommendations on RFPs that contribute to account profitability and volume forecasts outlined for the year.
  • Assist and/or lead credit and collection initiatives in conjunction with Finance to adhere to Company policies.
  • Actively pursue cost reduction/margin improvement activities in accounts.
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly and yearly sales goals as determined by sales budgets and forecasts, with a focus on profitable volume growth and increasing operating profit margins.
  • Define and execute business strategies for profitably growing existing business and generating new business. Qualifies and develops new business opportunities within territory. Closes new business opportunities to assure goal attainment.
  • Possess a broad understanding of different types of equipment, and technical and packaging capabilities related to the corrugated packaging industry
  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must have packaging industry experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to provide clarity to complex problems and develop long-term solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines and interact effectively with people from varying functions and levels
