Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in epidemiology biostatistics or related field with one or more years of research training. Coursework in statistics, data analysis, research methods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with multivariable regression models, and time to event data and analysis.
  • Experience with literature review techniques.
  • Experience in data analysis of age-related outcomes data.
  • Experience with EndNote.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work on multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Experience with large data, including tasks such as data management, analyzing genetic data and creating polygenic risk scores, etc.
  • Experience using High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems.

The School of Public Health division of Epidemiology and Community Health is seeking applications for a full-time (40 hours per week) Age-related Outcome Data Analyst (9742R5 - Researcher 5) position.

Starting pay range is dependent upon the selected candidate’s relevant qualifications, experience and internal equity: $65,000-$78,000

Work Arrangements: Hybrid, onsite location is West Bank Office Building (WBOB) 1300 2nd Street S, Minneapolis, West Bank campus. We’re seeking a Data Analyst with expertise and interests in chronic diseases — especially cardiovascular disease (CVD) and dementia. We are looking for a smart, theoretically informed, and technically minded person who enjoys working on cutting edge interdisciplinary population health research projects. For this position, we seek someone with a strong data-driven social science or public health background and who has training in quantitative analysis with a focus on chronic disease. The person would collaborate with the research team for the project “Identifying risk factors for early-onset dementia” to manage the data, harmonize data from multiple population-based cohorts, create statistical analysis plans, and to create both data table shells and formal data reports. This position will also collaborate on reports, conference papers and publications.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop, evaluate and implement statistical analysis plans independently or in collaboration with various research teams from multiple universities to (25%).
  • Manage large datasets and running analysis using statistical software and High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems (25%).
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the research team including Graduate and undergraduate level students, and more broadly the Division of Epidemiology and Community Health (10%).
  • Create data table shells, formal reports, conference papers and publications. Including first-authoring papers as time warrants (20%).
  • Review and evaluate data dictionaries from different cohorts and extract relevant information (20%).

The Division of Epidemiology & Community Health focuses on disease and health in various populations. Our faculty and students examine the distribution, cause and prevention of diseases, and how human behavior affects overall health.

The division offers MPH, MS and PhD degrees, as well as dual and joint degrees.

Research: The work of epidemiologists spreads across sectors and areas of study, so our division and faculty are often partnering with other research entities and community organizations on public health research and interventions. Research priorities or pods which encourage collaboration and innovation among our faculty and build upon the division’s robust research history include the fields of Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease, Global health Infectious Disease, Maternal and Child Health, Healthy Weight, Social Epidemiology, Substance Abuse and Grocery Assistance Program Study for Families
