Responsibilities
This position is responsible for supporting all areas of the Oracle Database service environment including, but not limited to, Oracle software installation, database configuration, administration, monitoring, maintenance, support and customer service.
Database Service Delivery-
Coordinates with vendors and service providers to resolve database technical support issues. Administers Oracle databases, RAC clusters, ASM instances, and RMAN backups. Manages and maintains Oracle environment. Manages and maintains Oracle database systems, including troubleshooting and patch management. Monitors Service Desk incidents, requests and tasks, and responds appropriately based on published time expectations. Assists customers in debugging, performance and reliability issues of SQL code. Advises customers regarding application design and development issues.
Internal Processes and Support-
Follows all established database processes and procedures. Developments documentation for Oracle database support processes, systems and procedures. Participates in change management procedures. Provides second-level technical support assistance to internal and external customers.
Research and Planning-
Researches, analyzes, recommends, designs, tests, and implements new database technologies and services to deliver cost effective and technically efficient solutions to internal and external customers. Evaluates product enhancements to ensure continuous product improvement.
Participates in approved professional development opportunities per NWRDC's policy. Professional development and training is defined as learning undertaken by the employee to maintain and advance their skills, knowledge and competencies, specifically as they relate and add value to the job and workplace.
NWRDC provides support for a wide range of state and local government, as well K- 20 organizations across the State of Florida. These organizations are dependent on NWRDC in order to accomplish their missions. This requires NWRDC to maintain services 24x7, even during times of crisis or emergency. As such, all NWRDC staff are considered essential staff for operations of the State of Florida.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma/equivalency and six years of experience.
(Note: or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to convey technical information to technical and nontechnical users.
Ability to document existing and new processes.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Ability to utilize problem solving skills.
Ability to utilize technical skills.
Ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
Ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the network and data field.
Required experience of managing Oracle and UDB/DB2 databases in an enterprise environment.
Must possess or complete Security Awareness Training Certificate within 60-days of employment starting (offered through NWRDC).
Preferred Qualifications
All qualifications needed immediately except for knowledge of University and NWRDC policies.
Other Information
This position is based in Tallahassee and is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
As required by U.S. Justice Department, CJIS level Background Checks shall be conducted for positions with access to Criminal Justice Information.
