Job Description

Assists in ensuring success of departmental function in a warehouse processing center or distribution center, to provide accurate and timely shipments to customers. Leads and solves problems within the limits of general standards and practices, with some direct guidance from General Supervisor. Position includes supervising a small team of union-represented employees.
  • Understands and consistently administers company policies
  • Keeps abreast of parts distribution center/materials warehouse performance reports and costs
  • Completes administrative tasks such as timekeeping, and maintain departmental records and reports
  • Achieves quality standards by communicating goals and leveraging resources to solve problems
  • Implements GMS and lean principles
  • Motivates direct reports and/or business partners through effective communication, training, coaching, development, and recognition
  • Understanding the partnership with the Union within the facility
  • Achieves Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost key performance indicators
  • Trains, develops and evaluates employees.
  • May evaluate team performance, and promotes continuous improvement
  • Cultivates a safety culture, and implements and enforces workplace safety rules and policies
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement using tools such as layered audits
  • Maintains good working relationships and communicates with employees, union representatives, and management team
  • Models GM’s cultural behaviors and always demonstrates the highest level of integrity
  • Demonstrates expertise in knowledge of the processes required to perform, and ensures they are effectively performing job responsibilities utilizing standardized methods

Required Qualifications
  • High level interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization, motivate employees and elicit work output
  • Strong interest in Continuous Development and Training
  • Must be willing to work overtime (including weekends as needed)
  • High level oral and written communication skills
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Ability to work any shift as dictated by the business
  • High level analytical ability where problems are complex
  • Knowledge of basic math
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supervising employees in a warehousing/ manufacturing/ distribution environment
  • Experience supervising employees in a union environment
  • Problem-resolution/Labor Relations experience
  • Knowledge of basic technology in area assigned
  • GMS knowledge and execution experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of warehousing/manufacturing /distribution processes and procedure
