Job Description

The Operations Consultant (OC) applies leadership, influence, and functional expertise to create meaningful, productive partnerships with each assigned franchise point of contact and with restaurant-level leadership. Through these partnerships, the OC will provide analysis, advice, counsel, coaching, training and assistance to impact and improve sales, traffic, and operating standards.


The Operations Consultant (OC) will be responsible for growing and protecting the brand by driving positive sales, guest experience, and positive franchisee relationships through the execution of IHOP standards and brand initiatives. The OC is an operations subject matter expert specializing in struggling or at-risk sets of restaurants and markets.


The Operations Consultant (OC) is responsible for evaluating and ensuring IHOP’s brand standards and brand initiatives, as well as influencing the adoption of operational best practices via coaching and support at the unit and multi-unit level.


Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with field and RSC support team where needed to ensure brand strategy and brand standards are executed within their assigned restaurants
  • Influence at the unit and multi-unit level continuous operational improvement and support of brand initiatives to ensure brand standards are maintained
  • Champion brand initiatives and rollouts to ensure 100% adoption among the franchisees and restaurants assigned
  • Assist with the New Restaurant Opening Process (NRO) as needed to fill gaps in volume in restaurants assigned
  • Actively share and assist franchisees in adopting best practices
  • Document, analyze, and report, operational standards through reports, checklists, and 1-1 franchisee business reviews while providing franchisees with guidance and support to ensure brand standards are implemented and consistently maintained at brand standards
  • Partner with franchisee leadership to diagnose barriers that affect performance and assist with developing operational plans to maximize improvement and implement tactics and measures to ensure assigned restaurants meet brand standards
  • Execute priority restaurant/market plans and strategies as assigned
  • Assist with assessing franchise group talent and bench strength to achieve short- and long-term operational needs
  • Provide coaching and training as needed in assigned restaurants
  • Employ interpersonal and coaching skills to effectively drive objectives and positive outcomes
  • Restaurant consulting and leadership to drive franchisee operations execution and adherence to IHOP standard operating procedures (SOP)
  • Provide franchisees restaurant and business guidance to address issues and concerns related to improving all facets of service, sales, traffic and profitability
  • Provide direct support and guidance to restaurant teams and POCs based on detailed action plans aligned with the RBD and franchisee
  • Provide updates, trend information and tactics to Regional Business Director (RBD) on recent visits


Skills & Requirements


  • Ability to plan and set priorities to achieve objectives
  • Minimum of 5+ years in a restaurant operations-oriented leadership role
  • Strong operational experience and proven performance in driving restaurant operational standards, growing same-store traffic and sales, and optimizing restaurant-level profitability
  • Salary range $110,000-$120,000
  • Basic Microsoft Office Suite
  • Expert at IHOP brand standards, operating systems, and operational tools & resources
  • Solid communication skills – oral and written
  • Ability to manage difficult and high-pressure situations
  • Strong coaching and influencing skills and building relationships
  • Proven track record in helping to ‘turn around’ both restaurants and markets in ‘underperforming’ situations
  • ServSafe or similarly approved training or any other state-required compliance training, if applicable
  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
