  • JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience
  • High school Graduate or equivalent with training in spreadsheets and word processing required. Experience with personal computers, billing and coding and patent accounting is preferred. On the job training specific to Hospital related skills.
  • Three - five years of prior medical healthcare experience and/or knowledge of Determination of Managed Care Contracts, Pater Plans. Health-care, insurance not-for-profit or governmental experience preferred. Demonstrated proficient computer, written and verbal communication, telephone, cash handling, and customer service skills.

  • Requires occasional lifting, stair climbing, and carrying up to 50 pounds
  • Arranges for the efficient and orderly registration of patients, ensures that accurate patient information is collected and that patients are made aware of hospital policies and procedures. Responsible for patient demographics utilized in the preparation of records and reports used in making operating decisions. Works with and has access to confidential patient information. Position requires making frequent decisions or actions following general procedures often without clearly defined precedents. Position requires a high degree of mental alertness and close visual attention to details. Position requires diplomacy and a professional image and manner in dealing with patients, families, visitors, medical staff and SBMC personnel. Registrar is responsible for a positive first impression of SBMC personnel as the initial point of service contact for SBMC customers. Job responsibility includes registration in any area under the direction of the Manager of Admission. Responsible for assisting the Program Director, PCF, patients, coding department and business office with resolving specialized issues that occur throughout the claim processing of patient accounts. There is a moderate level of decision making associated with this position, and a moderate degree of interaction with other hospital departments. This person must be able to use diplomacy and tact when interacting with other people while communication issues that affect wound clinic operations. This position is responsible for a properly managed and organized billing of outpatient wound charges/insurance pre-certification for wound care procedures. This person must be well trained and knowledgeable in proper billing/coding policies and procedures of various payers. This person must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. This person is expected at all times to portray a positive professional public image. This position is required to utilize independent judgment.
  • Normal hospital environment/outpatient clinical setting. Position requires normal or corrected eyesight, hearing within normal range, frequent walking, pushing/pulling wheelchairs up to 350 pounds, and sitting 50% of the time.
